The Raven and the Cat (Sebastian X Reader)

Chapter 1- An invitation

Sebastian's POV

A short distance from London, just beyond the fog-covered forest, there stands a well-kept manor house. Its resident is the head of the Phantomhive Family, a distinguished aristocrat. His day begins with a cup of early morning tea.

As a butler of the Phantomhives, my morning begins early. I set to work before anyone else to get everything ready for the young lord. Ironing his newspaper and providing the morning tea service. As I wait for the tea to heat up, I opened the back door of the kitchen to see my beautiful black cat. I pet and rub her silky and smooth fur as she purrs. Soon enough, the young lord's tea is all done brewing. I brush the cat fur off my clothes before getting back to work.

I place everything on a cart and begin to roll it down to the young master's corridors. I open the big dark wooden doors and draw back the royal blue curtains.

"Young Master, it is time to greet the day."

He stirs in bed and then flutters his eyes open. I proceed to tell him about the breakfast I have served.

"For today's breakfast, I have prepared poached salmon and mint salad. We have toast scones and pain de champagne on the side. Which would you prefer?"

"Scone."

He grumbled sleepily. I hand him his newspaper and tea. He takes a sip and speaks.

"This aroma, Ceylon Tea, hm?"

"Yes, sir. From Royal Doulton. The tea set is Wedgewood blue and white."

"And the schedule today?"

"Professor Hugues, an authority in kingcraft, will arrive after breakfast, sir."

Many hours later...

Ciel's POV

I was almost finished with my work when Sebastian came in with a silver platter. I thought it was a meal but, realized I had dinner two hours ago. Sebastian revealed what it was. He lifted the lid to reveal a letter with a red rose label in wax. From the label alone, it was not the queen who had written this letter.

"What is this, Sebastian?"

"Funny, I was thinking the same thing, My Lord. It's best to read and find out."

I furrowed my brows at him which caused him to smile. I cracked the seal open and began to read.

Dearest Earl Phantomhive,

I'm an old friend of your father's and I remembered you when you were just a young infant. Besides that, my beloved daughter has finished college and we're hosting a party to celebrate what she has done. It would be an honor for you to attend and perhaps we can meet after all these years.

Yours truly,

Earl (L/N).

"An invitation to a party."

"Perhaps you should attend. If you refuse too many invites, then your reputation will suffer gravely."

I thought about it for a moment and then succumbed to his suggestion.

"Fine, I'll do it. Maybe you'll find someone you like."

"You mean fall in love with someone, Young Master?"

Sebastian's POV

"You mean fall in love with someone, Young Master?"

I questioned and he replied with a cocky smirk on his face.

"Yes, I'd be pretty amazed that a being such as yourself, a demon, to feel human emotions."

I laughed in my throat. The Young Master lost his smirk and furrowed his brow.

"What are you laughing at now?"

"Me having feelings for a mortal woman? Simply ridiculous. I'm nothing but your faithful servant until the very end. That is the butler aesthetic, My Lord."

He scoffed at me while smiling slyly.

"Heh, we shall see then, Sebastian Michaelis."

I got the Lord washed up and ready for bed. I fluff his pillow, tuck him into the soft blankets, and finally blow out the candles. I walk to my bedroom to turn in for the night. I make it to my bedroom, and I took a quick shower. Then I began to think.

'Me having feelings for a mortal woman? Simply ridiculous.'

Then I thought more deeply about that topic.

'Well, could it be possible that I can feel human emotions such as love? Then again, I am simply one hell of a butler, but I'm a demon. If it is true for demons to feel love, then it must be forbidden for demons and humans to love each other. I'm a non-human entity that has rebelled against God. I can only wait to see if it's possible.'

I dry off and read for a while until I go to bed myself.
