Reader's POV

I woke up and Sebastian wasn't snuggling with me anymore. I get up only to hear what sounded like Ciel yelling in anger. I rush out of bed to get ready quick and headed to Ciel's study. I open the door to see Ciel and Sebastian not too happy. I look to see a newspaper on the floor and see the title, Jack the Ripper Strikes Again! Now I understood why Sebastian and Ciel were frustrated.

How is it that the Viscount Druitt isn't our man? Later that day, Ciel and Madam Red were playing a game of chess while Sebastian was working through the names of suspects possibly to see if he missed something. I was reading a book to clear my mind. I heard Madam Red exclaimed.

"Ciel, that was against the rules you know."

He chuckled in his throat.

"Madam Red, it would be if this was a game but, in this world, there are always knights and pawns that betray if you let your guard down then its checkmate."

I looked up at the two-playing chess and then looked at Sebastian. I thought of when he saved me. He was concerned about me. Maybe he's starting to like me. I continued to read as the two in front of me played their game. Madam Red spoke.

"You must've had other opinions instead of policing the underworld for the queen. I'm sure my beloved sister, your mother, wanted something else for you. Even after their deaths, you returned to be the queen's guard dog. Is it because you're trying to avenge your parents?"

He looked at her somberly.

"That's a funny thing to say. Revenge won't bring back the dead nor will it bring happiness to the person. I didn't come back for my parents. I came back for myself."

Madam Red smiled.

"I still remember when you were a little boy. You were so tiny and fragile that I thought no matter what I'll do anything to protect you. I was never able to have children of my own but, then you came along into this world. I come to think of you as my own son which is why I wish you would quit this."

She said placing her hand on his little head. He pushed her hand off.

"I don't regret my decision. It's not a decision for anyone else to make."

Soon after that, Madam Red left the manor to return home. It was getting late so, I decided to go see what Sebastian was doing. I tried looking for him but only found Mey-Rin instead.

"Mey-Rin have you seen Sebastian around?"

"Oh, he's in the office, yes he is."

"Okay, thank you."

I went to the office then knocked on the door.

"Come in."

I entered to see him sitting at a desk with all the names of possible suspects and the only light lighting up the room is a single candle. I walked over to him.

"Still trying to find who can be the killer?"

He sighed.

"Yes, indeed."

I rubbed his shoulders and pretty soon it became a shoulder massage.

"Doesn't all this work make you stressed?"

"I would never say this in front of the Young Master, but I admit it. I can get a little stressed."

I felt bad for him so, I rubbed his shoulders causing him to go stiff for a second then he relaxed right into it. I watched him checked the names for about ten minutes until I realized something.
