Chapter 12

Nash's POV;

Today I was going to go shopping with Riley. To be honest, it was a shock to me that she has someone she likes. More than a shock, its irritating me. I've known Riley for a long time. We grew up together and even though we argue and fight, we are close. I have never thought much about her in that way except that she has always been there. All through my ups and down, she has been there. But there was a time when she stopped being there and it affected me a lot. I joined the basketball club to gain her attention since she loves to play basketball but didn't join the club because she doesn't know how to play. Whenever I'd get a girlfriend, I'd introduce her to Riley, hoping she'd be impressed by me, but she became distant. We still talked but there was this weird distance between us, which I never liked.

When I found out about her liking Leo, I decided to help her out. After all, she is my friend and this is the first I've heard of her liking someone. Still there was this inkling feeling that I couldn't shake off. I don't like how she praises Leo like he's a God. It irritates me even more.

I went to pick her up from the activity room because I knew she would be there with Selena. While walking towards my car, she asked for my phone. And I gave it to her without even asking why.

"You just give your phone to other people this easily?" She said while typing a message

"No but it's not like I have anything to hide. So what are you doing?" I asked

"I don't have Cyrus's number so I'm messaging him to go help Selena. I'm pretty sure she is doing all the work by herself." She said after which she finishes sending the message, "Done. Here you go, thanks." She gives me my phone back

"You ready to go?" I asked putting my seatbelt on

"Yup." She replied excitedly. One of her things that I love about her which hasn't changed is that she gets excited about everything. It's cute.

We went to the mall, and to a few shops here and there but couldn't find anything. To be honest, I don't know Leo's preferences. I just used this as an excuse to hang out with her. It's been so long since we hung out and I've genuinely missed this and her as well.

"So how is this shirt? Too cliché or normal?" She asked

I shrugged in return

"You are of no help. Do you even know what Leo likes?" She said putting the shirt back in the rack

"Well anything would look, wouldn't it?" I replied

She went quiet for a second but then replied, "But I want to look good for him."

This again irritated me. On our way here, she kept going on and on about Leo. It was annoying me.

"This is so stupid..." I mumbled

"Did you say anything?" She asked quizzically

"No. And what is taking you so long?" I answered

"I don't know what to choose." She replied

I looked around the clothes and found a dress that was casual, simple but it was cute. I was pretty sure it would look good on her.

"Here." I bring it out and give it to her

"You sure?" She asked, "It is pretty....but will Leo like it?"

"Yeah...so we done here?" I said. I don't know or even care if he likes it or not but I do know that's what I think looks good on her.

"It's your own choice, isn't it? You're just passing your time and don't know Leo's preference, do you?" She said, I shrugged

"Well I'll trust your choice for now and buy it. Thank you." She smiled

Afterwards we decided to go eat somewhere and we talked and laughed like normal. It was fun. I always felt like something was missing from my life and now I knew it was her.

We were walking back to the car when she stopped walking and started bringing something out of her bag.

"Oh wait...I have something to give you. It's Leo's handkerchief. Can you give it back to him and told him I said thanks?" She said handing it out to me. I thought they both haven't met yet so how does she have that.

"You two met?" I asked

"Yeah. At Cyrus's birthday party. I accidentally collided with him and he spilled his drink on me and then he apologised and gave this to me. He was just like a prince charming!" She beamed. Okay that's it. If I hear another thing about Leo from her, I'm going to go crazy. In the first place, she is out here hanging out with me. So all her attention should be on me. But all she kept focusing on was Leo this and Leo that and it made me annoyed and even angry.

"Oh and by the way, thank you so much for today. I know we always fight and all but you're a really great friend." She smiled as she added

"I am not your friend. And I am not giving this back to him. Give it yourself. You're out here with me, not Leo, so stop talking about him." I said, my jaw tightened

"Why? This outing is because of Leo you know. Did you hit your head somewhere?" She said

"I don't like you talking about him..." I said

"Why is that?" Her forehead furrowed

"It's because I like you." I blurted out

"Huh?" Her eyes went round

There it is. I did it. I told her.

"Why....I mean this is so sudden...are you even serious?" I observed that her face was turning red slowly. To be honest, my cheeks were also becoming red.

"I am serious. Since now you know, be conscious of me at-least and pay attention to me." I answered

"But...why....I mean you're Nash. And....you're Nash...you like me....this is weird...this isn't like you. Why are you being so weird?" I could see she was having a hard time digesting what I just told her

"Are you making fun of me?" I said

"No...I mean why now? You were helping me set up with Leo.." she said

"I never intended to do that from the start. It was just to spend more time with you." I said

"...then you didn't intend to help me at all? Gosh, Nash. Why me? You know I like Leo, right?" She said

"I have no intention of handing you over to him." I said firmly

".....I am not some object, you know!" She said after a pause

"I know." I replied while getting into the car

"And I like Leo, you know." She said

"..I know.." I gave a half-smile as she gets into the car. The ride back was quiet. She didn't even say anything while getting out of the car. But I have decided. She doesn't like how I party and is never serious about relationships and stuff, well I'm going to change myself.
