Y/n opened the doors to the outdoor court. The seagulls were chattering. The waves hit against the cement foundation with loud splashes. The smell of the sea, which were buried in her mind, made it's way to her nose. The wind wasn't strong just a small breeze. Perfect.
"Are you gonna grow roots there?" The team captain asked teasingly. "We have to set up the net you know." She knew, if she allowed it, Y/n could stand there forever. She loved the ocean, she loved everything about it. The seagulls which made almost everyone else mad, the waves, the smell, the breeze, she loved it.
Y/n looked back at the captain with a big smile, stepped aside, and answered with a little giggle "Sorry Jess."
Jess Miller, 3rd year. captain, wing spiker and Pinch Server. She was always quite optimistic and came with these weird quotes, no one really knew where came from. Sometimes the team wondered, if she came up with them herself.
Jess sighed with a little giggle, she couldn't get mad at Y/n. Y/n always had this positive aura around her filled with energy and happiness. So, all Jess did, was to pat Y/n's shoulder when she passed her with net.
Y/n looked inside the gym to see their setter tease their libero. Their libero and former setter was 2nd year Tami Mitchell, she were only 155 cm, so some of the other found great joy in teasing her. It was always friendly teasing, but Tami could have a bit of a temper. Their setter and Outside Hitter 3rd year Rachel Blaese were 177 cm and were the one taking the most joy in teasing their libero. Like now, she liked to take Tami's shoe and hold it up, so she couldn't reach it. She was pretty used to Tami's temper, but Tami always seemed to find a way to win anyways.
Tami took a step back, before she slammed her foot into Rachels knee. Rachel let out a small scream, as she fell as long, as she was tall. Tami quickly grabbed her shoe and stuck out her tongue. She looked around, before her eyes fell on a shelf high up in the equipment room. On the shelf were a second shoe.
"Ha ha!" Rachel said, as she got up from the floor. "You can't reach!" Rachel had on purpose left the shoe on the shelf so high, that Tami couldn't get it.
"OI Y/N GIVE ME A HAND!" Tami yelled, as she so, Y/n standing looking at them. Tami knew that Y/n with her 179 cm easily could reach the shelf and the shoe.
Y/n began to walk over to the libero, when their middle blocker came and stood in the way. 2nd year middle blocker and Pinch Server Harper Clark with her 182 cm, she also took a lot of joy in teasing Tami. They were childhood friends, her and Tami and would do basically anything to tease her. Harper had also always had an nasty way of controlling the game. She could always make it difficult for the other team. Most of the time she could direct her serve to the setter, so they couldn't set.
"You aren't getting past, Y/n," Harper said with great confidence. Harper was always very confident.
"Stop it everyone! We need to start training." 1st year middle blocker Nera Moore came out of the equipment room with the basket of balls. Nera was pretty stick, but loosened up when they played. She were 171 cm, and knew how to use them to the point. She may not be the tallest of their middle blockers, but she was almost impossible to get past. Y/n had been in middle school with her, and she had helped Y/n improve her spikes significantly. Y/n where pretty sure, that her spikes were so powerful because of Nera. And she was thankful for that.
"Are you bossing around someone older than you?" Harper teased. She loved, to tease everyone she could. She was like a kid in a grown ups body.
"She is mentally older than you Harper," Jess said giggly. "You two should switch grades." Now Jess was in on the teasing too. She knew, how much Harper wanted to get out of high school. Harper wanted to get out, she wanted to see the world.
"No!" Harper immediately exclaimed. She didn't want to go a year down. Though the homework wouldn't be so hard.
Harper exclaimed a pressed sound as someone hit her on top of her head.
"Just because you are the tallest doesn't mean you can tease everyone," 3rd year Opposite Hitter and Defensive Specialist Liv Harris. She was the one to keep the team together. She may have seemed mean or closed, if you just so her. But in reality, she was a big goof. Fooling around while making sure everyone kept their place.
Y/n was happy about her team. Of Course, there were others on the team than just them. But that was their starting line-up, her, Nera, Harper, Liv, Jess, Tami and Rachel. Together they were invincible. Terrifying serves, amazing game and ball control, precise sets, solid receives, unbreakable blocks, and scary spikes.
