If you know the Save they Mini-game then you will see that the children's body are in different areas of the map. In my opinion the children got a chance. The murder locked them in the building knowing the animatronic would come for them. The murder actually gave them a chance to hide, but the children didn't know about this they thought that maybe they were going to get to meet the animatronics personally, and when they saw them they didn't know why they were acting strangely and got killed.
