Notes: This is set after the First Chapter of MingYu ^^

Warnings: Lots of identity crisis here, so please stay away if it triggers you. [I'm sorry for making poor WMY suffer] But hopefully, you enjoy this. By the way, this is a behind the scenes section!

"So what name should we call you?"

The former Yiling Patriarch wondered what it meant for him when he didn't have any trouble adapting to his new name.

—MingYu. Wei MingYu.

That was his new name. A name that meant Bright Jade. Why would he name himself that? Why would it matter what his new name was? [Why did they ask what I wanted to be called?]

'Demonic cultivator,' 'Yiling Patriarch,' 'Evil,' 'Immoral,' and so much more. He'd been called all of that. He hadn't minded it then [Lies, his mind whispered. You did care. You did mind. It was, after all, why you couldn't stay with your sect. It was why everything had gone wrong. All because of rumours. All because of fear.]

"It doesn't matter to me what I'm called. It has no meaning."

It truly didn't. Not after everything that happened.

"They call me the cultivator of the crooked path, anyways, so you can't possibly count on me to be generous and not bother with him, can you?"

He was already given a name. He was already condemned. He already lost everything. Shouldn't he lose his last identity also? [Just who was he? The bright boy that he's seeing in front of his eyes now? The grieving boy who wanted to slaughter every Wen? The boy who gave up his golden core to save his brother? The child that condemned the Jiang sect? The child that was hated by Lan Zhan? The Yiling Patriarch? The demonic cultivator? Just what made Wei Wuxian.. wei wuxian?]

Was he even Wei Wuxian anymore? Or had he become someone who'd thoroughly lost himself? [When did he forget who he was? When the Jiang sect burned? Burial Mounds? Nightless City?]

"You wouldn't name your flute 'ChenQing' if you thought that there was no meaning to names."

That had been before he had given up on the world, my younger innocent self. It had been before he'd given up on himself.

[Just who am I?]

Author's Note: Err, so I'm currently writing the next chapter for MingYu. I would say I'm about 15% done. [I know, the progress is slow. Sorry.]

For the other short stories, you can find them on Ao3. I'm slowly updating them over here, but faster updates would be on my Tumblr or Ao3. Enjoy!
