The rain wouldn't cease neither will it reduce. Moyo has been in a hiding place since the rain started. Her shoe were soaked due to the fact that the hiding could only protect her body and not her legs. It's been six years since her husband passed away. She has been a single mother since then, it has not been easy but she needs to take care of her son. The rain wouldn't cease, the wind blew harder as the splashing of water increased. She was frustrated, her son must be home now, he must be waiting for her. She checked the time and it was already past eight, she needs to get home. She decided to walk through the rain. As she was about to move out a taxi passed, she stopped the taxi and then she hopped in.

She brought the keys to the door out of her bag. She opened the door only to find the living room light off. It was so dark, she found her way to the switch, after she switched on the light, she still couldn't find her son

                "Daniel, Daniel"
She called out as she looked for her son. Then she heard a loud sound of spoon falling coming from the kitchen. She rushed to the kitchen to find her five year old boy on a stool washing dishes on the sink.

          "Daniel"
She called him, he turned back, smiled at her as he came down from the stool. He hugged his mum tightly. Moyo was happy to see that her son was doing fine. He separated from her as he carried a cup to meet her.

"Rain is falling and you need hot tea to keep you warm".

Moyo could not be happier, her son prepared tea for her. She didn't know she was crying until she heard,

           "Why are you crying"

" it's not tears dear, it's the rain. I will go and change".

       "Can I follow you?

        "Yes, of course".
They both walked to the room happily.

                      *********
It's almost six, Moyo closed the file on her table and then she picked her bag, she must not be the late today again. As soon as she entered the cab her phone beeped, it was a message from Charles. Charles has been supportive and caring ever since her husband passed away. They started dating three years ago, she considered getting married to him but her son needs her. She unlocked her phone to check the message

Babe, how are you? How was your day? Hope it wasn't stressful? I just want you to know that I have reservation for both us tonight by 8:00pm. Dinner on me. I love you.

She wasn't expecting such a message, Charles can't be doing such impromptu thing, she has a son to take care of. She entered her apartment only to find her son sleeping. He has empty bottles of chin chin lying around. She carried him to his room, when she dropped him she thanked God that she rented a two bedroom apartment, her son needs to sleep very well. After cleaning the living room, she took her phone to dial Charles' number, after ringing twice, he picked the call.

Babe

I can't make it to the dinner

What do you mean, it's almost eight. I've missed you, I want to spend sometime with you.

I need to be with my son

Why must this be about your son? You don't care about my feeling, do you?

Of course I do but.....

If you are not here for the dinner, it's over between us.

He disconnected the line, Moyo was sad, she love him but she love her son more. She walked to her room sad, she sat on her bed. She Checked the time and it was almost eight, she can make it, her son is asleep. Yes she can. She stood up and decided to get dressed. She moved to the sitting room and she saw no sigh of her son, she heaved a sigh of relief, as she was about to open the door, she heard her son speak as he scratched his eyes,

             "It's time for PJ masks"
She smiled as she nodded her head.

             "Is mummy going somewhere?

            "No, not at all".

           "Then why are you dressed".

"I wanted to show you. It's beautiful right"

"Yes, mum can we watch PJ masks together".

"Yes love, let me go and change, we will enjoy it".

She walked to the room sad. She wiped her tears as she thought of her son. That's the only person that can give her everlasting joy. She walked to the living room. After watching PJ masks, they watched other things. Not long her phone beeped

I've been waiting and you've proven that you don't love me. Bye

She wasn't expecting this, so she decided to text him

I'm sorry, we can talk about this tomorrow.

She looked at her son and he was asleep. She pecked him as tears rolled down cheeks. She carried him to his room and then she sat beside him.
