25. 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒍

It was now 7pm at the carnival and you two were eating dinner. The food there was pretty expensive, however, the carnival provided a McDonald's; so, you two--being cheap--decided to eat there. As you're about to take your wallet out, Atsumu is quicker and hands cash to the blushing cashier.

"Atsumu, you already bought our wristbands and most of our games! Why won't you at least let me pay for dinner?" You frown at the chuckling boy.

"It's alright, Cutie-chan! I'm just being a gentleman." He gleams but you continue to push your lips into a pout as he grabs the tray of food since your hands are full with the huge fox. You both walk to a seat where you sit next to the stuffed fox and Atsumu sitting across from you. Brushing off invisible dust from your new plushie, Atsumu just stares in awe. It was adorable seeing you taking care of his gift to you so nicely.

"You know, Atsumu... He kind of looks like you!" you suddenly say as you continue to stare at your toy. "Maybe I should name him... Umu-chan." Atsumu's eyes widen and he blushes.

"Th-that's such a bad name, F/n-chan!" he pouts, but secretly was just exploding with happiness.

"Really? I kind of like it." You smile then start eating your guys' chicken nuggets. "Thank you for buying dinner!" you say with your cheeks filled with food. Atsumu laughs at your cuteness.

"Don't talk with your mouth full!" he teases then starts to dig in as well.

"F/n-chan, let's watch the fireworks." Atsumu pulls you.

"Okay but where are we going?" you ask as he drags you. Atsumu turns over his shoulder but continues to walk.

"You'll see!" After a few minutes of walking up streets and stairs, you both finally reach the top of a little mountain with cherry blossom trees. Your eyes and mouth widen in astonishment. The city lights were gleaming and the sky was shining with stars.

"It's beautiful..." you whisper but it's loud enough for Atsumu to hear.

'You're beautiful,' he thinks to himself and finds his heart picking up its rate. After a few minutes of just absorbing the scenery, Atsumu is contemplating if he should make a move on you or not. However, like God was telling him to make a move, the wind blows your hair into your face and Atsumu's hand moves on its own--removing strands of your hair behind your ear. You blush at the sudden contact. Now, you both were just staring deeply into each other's eyes. Without even thinking, Atsumu's face is nearing your's. Too shocked to move, you keep your face planted in place. His hand slowly moves to touch your smooth cheek. What seems like forever, Atsumu gulps and flutters his eyes close. Your heart beats fast and for once, you decide to allow your heart to take control, instead of your brain, as you slowly close your eyes and feel Atsumu's breath reach your lips. As both of your lips are about to touch, there is a sudden bomb which causes you to back out of Atsumu's touch--in his disappointment. You immediately turn your head to the loud noise and see fireworks above you both. Embarrassed about what you and Atsumu were about to do just a few seconds ago, you keep your eyes on the fireworks. Slightly in your head, you thank the fireworks for being so loud to cover the sound of your heart beat. On the other hand, Atsumu is deeply disappointed as well as shocked by his own actions. It was clear to him that you were greatly trying to avoid him, so he decided to watch the fireworks as well.

The walk home is silent and awkward--only filled with conversations that were necessary. Once you both reach the front of your house, you stop and clench on Umu-chan.

"I-I have to go pick up Rina from Shin's house," you say as you look at the concert. It hurts Atsumu knowing that you would not even look at him.

"Okay," he gives a simple reply. It's quiet for a few seconds. "I'll get going then. Goodnight, F/n-chan," Atsumu sadly bids and is about to turn away until you grab onto his sleeve.

"I-I..." you stutter then look up at his eyes. "Thank you for today, Atsumu. I haven't gone to a carnival for so long and I'm happy that... it was you I was able to go with. Today was filled with so many new and enjoyable memories I will cherish forever," you honestly say then let go of his sleeve and smile. "Goodnight, Atsumu!" The rocks on Atsumu's heart are immediately lifted with your smile and his confidence comes back. He brings his face close to your cheek and lightly brushes his lips against your right cheek.

"See you on Monday, F/n-chan! I had so much fun too!" Atsumu grins then leaves you in a blushing mess. Once Atsumu disappears behind the corner, you explode and steam comes out of you.

"W-what was that?" you ask and place your hand over the place Atsumu's lips touched your cheek.
