A Year With You

Alain smiled to himself as he finally finished writing the last page in his small book. As he flicked through all the pages that were filled with many memories from the past year, he couldn't help but feel a sense of happiness.

Sure there were bad days, but good days soon followed and that's what mattered the most. Alain closed the book and looked to the clock on his nightstand.

It was almost midnight, meaning it was almost their anniversary. Turning his head, he saw Roman still snoozing away in his bed. The man was still rather tired after...previous activities so Alain could understand why he still wanted to sleep.

After turning off the lamp, Alain moved over to the bed and tried to get in as quietly as possible so as to not wake the sleeping man.

Once seeing that Roman was still sleeping, Alain let out a small breath of relief and opted for just staring at the clock that slowly ticked away at the few minutes remaining until midnight.

Alain didn't know why he couldn't sleep, but just thought of it as his excited jitters. This would after all be his first anniversary with someone, and just the simple fact that that someone was Roman made him all the more excited.

When the clock changed to midnight Alain smiled.

"Happy anniversary" he whispered.

"Happy anniversary" Alain was surprised to hear Roman reply to him and in the dark, he could see Roman's eyelids flutter open.

"Did I wake you?" Alain asked and Roman shook his head.

"I've been up since you first left the bed" Roman said.

"Sorry" Alain said.

"Don't worry about it" Roman said as he ruffled Alain's hair. It was silent between the two for a moment before Alain broke it.

"Can you believe that it's already been a year?" He whispered as he moved to rest his head on Roman's chest who in turn just wrapped an arm around Alain's shoulders.

"Yeah, it feels like the time went by so fast" Roman said.

"So, what do you want to do today?" Alain asked as he looked to Roman.

"Mm, we can do whatever you'd like" Roman said and Alain raised an eyebrow even though it probably couldn't be seen.

"Whatever?" He said and Roman gave him a look.

"...within reason" Roman said and Alain chuckled.

"Of course, of course" he said.

"So, what do you want to do?" Roman asked and Alain paused for a moment.

"It isn't something that I want to do, but something I want" He said and this time it was Roman's turn to raise an eyebrow.

"And what is that?" He asked.

"I want you to move in with me" Alain said and he bit his lip as he waited to hear Roman's answer. Roman found himself stunned by the sudden request and Alain could tell from how silent he was.

"I like getting to go to sleep and waking up with you beside me. I hate having to wait weeks to see you and I hate it even more when we can't keep in contact. It's killing me here" Alain said as he grabbed Roman's hand in his own.

"I'm glad to hear you feel that way, it's hard for me too even if it doesn't seem like it" Roman said as he gave a reaffirming squeeze on Alain's hand to let him know that their feelings were mutual.

He too couldn't help but wonder how Alain was and if he was taking care of himself properly since the younger male seemed to lack that quality. He had never in his life thought about someone as much as he thought about Alain.

"So...will you?" Alain asked hesitantly.

Roman gave an internal sigh. He knew his family (Kade in particular) was going to have an uproar if they found out about him moving out but Roman also knew that this day would soon come whether Alain was in his life or not.

"I suppose I can't say no when you ask so nicely" Roman said and Alain rolled his eyes but said nothing as he decided to just bask in the fact that Roman was going to be moving in with him.

"Ah...I'm so excited now" Alain said and Roman chuckled.

He found it adorable the way Alain got excited at the smallest things. Well, moving in with your partner is certainly not a small thing now that it hit him.

"I don't think I can sleep...wanna go another round?" Alain asked as he climbed on top of Roman and Roman just froze in response.

He didn't know if he had it in him to go a seventh time...
