[Sometimes we forget that these two worked together in the mansion, and I just realized the potential angst I can milk from that. Also, it's almost 5 AM when I started writing this, sooooo my sleep schedule got rocket chaired.]

Bane Perez was always the soft giant. He was young, caring, and very good with animals. Burke would sometimes wonder how is he still single. This man could find the perfect soulmate, get married and live in a cabin in the woods or something, and don't get him wrong- Burke doesn't believe in soulmates (at least not before his ex-wife took his grandkids), but it truly shocked the old man that this big man chose to stay in the mansion and watch the forests around it. Burke would hang out with him whenever he's free and doesn't feel like working on his inventions.
"Burke, look!" The younger one said as he showed him a sleeping moose. "Isn't he adorable?"
"Wow. Black Nose grew up! He got horns and stuff!" Burke replied, leaning against a tree as the other one knelt down to gently pat Black Nose. Burke found it quite wholesome to see how Bane treated this mammal as if it was his own child.
"Remember the day I found him?" Bane said. "He couldn't walk. I can't believe I get to see him like that."
Bane's green eyes were focused on the moose, and his messy brown hair was gently moving with the wind.
"You know it's hunting season, right?" Burke asked him.
"Don't worry. I spoke to the poachers." Bane replied. "They promised not to hurt Black Nose. So... we're good."

Burke was working on his newest robot- his 26th attempt at making one, at least, when he heard loud barks and howling.
"Fucking wolves..." He muttered. "Bane was supposed to get them away."
Then he heard soft cries. The sound was... too familiar.
"Oh, shit." He said as the realization hit him. He dropped everything and ran out of the basement to the entrance, where he found Miss Nightingale standing in front of a very injured person, as the wolves ran back to the forest. The man had the head of a very familiar moose stuck on it, locked with a very rusty trap.
"It's Bane..." she said as Burke slowly sat next to the sobbing man, holding his arm to let him know he's safe.
"I got that from the size, Miss Nightingale." Burke replied. He noticed Bane was holding something in his hand, and it didn't take him longer than four seconds to realize what it was.
"Is that...?" Burke said, slowly taking the object from Bane's hand. As soon as his eyes confirmed that it was indeed Bane's tongue, his instincts made him drop it in disgust and let out a small gag. It wasn't just any tongue- but it had Bane's piercing on it. These fuckers cut off Bane's tongue.
"Who the fuck did this to him?" Burke asked Miss Nightingale. His eyes were filled with rage.
"These poachers he talked to, I think." she replied. "I tried taking the head off, but a lot of blood came out, and-"
"Call a doctor, for fuck sake!" Burke yelled at her. "These poachers will be back. I can use them to test my new robot."
Miss Nightingale nodded as she ran back inside.
Bane laid his head on Burke's laps, still shaking. His body was filled with scratches and blood and cuts... What heartless creature could do that to such a gentle guy? Burke gently hugged the man, trying to figure out if there was any way he could've stopped this.
"I'm sorry, Bane." He whispered. "You don't deserve this shit. You really don't."
