[A/N: Me? Writing a ship that is basically my kin x the character I simp for? ...Yeah, I did that like several times.]
That match was a NIGHTMARE. It was a duo hunter match against Geisha and Wu Chang, Martha didn't join the survivors and nobody thought about trying to grab a flare gun from the chests. Somehow they managed to get a tie, with Kurt, William, Lucky, and Patricia escaping the damn factory.
William was genuinely worried about Kurt, who got injured from all the rescue attempts. He was lucky to carry "Borrowed time", a skill that refills your health when the last cipher pops... but of course, Naib and Patricia were getting chaired and Kurt wanted to be the hero and save them. He managed to save Patricia, but when he got to Naib's chair, it was too late and the poor mercenary was flown back to the mansion, and Kurt had to run to the gate with not one, not two, but THREE dead people chasing him. He got hit by Wu Chang, but Kurt managed to leave the area for good.
"Will, I promise you, I'm fine-" Kurt started to say, but a groan of pain came out of his mouth and cut him off when he tried to move his leg.
"Kurt, you're definitely not fine." William said. He sat Kurt down and began to patch up his leg. "You could've let me do the rescuing, Kurt. That's my job here."
"I know, but every time I play with other rescuers, I'm the one to do the rescueing." Kurt sighed. "I mean, Naib helps sometimes, but he gets hurt a lot."
"Yeah," William said. "I know you two are close."
"He's like a brother for me." Kurt said. "The war changed us both."
"Is that another reason you always rescue?" William asked as he finished wrapping Kurt's leg in bandages.
"No, but..." Kurt said. "There's another reason."
William looked at him with a worried frown.
"I... I don't know if I can talk about it." Kurt said.
"You don't have to." William said. He got up and lifted Kurt, causing the explorer the squeak a little. "You're not really in the shape to walk all that way back to the mansion." William explained. "Oh, thanks." Kurt replied, gently holding on to the forward's shirt.
To tell the truth, Kurt enjoyed William's company. He's kind, and understanding, and strong and respectful... He was perfect. Kurt could feel his cheeks turning red whenever he thought about him, and right now his face was redder than a tomato. The pain in his leg suddenly ceased to exist, as he laid his head against William's chest, feeling his heartbeat.
"Look, I'm gonna drop you at Emily's. She needs to take a look at your injuries." William said. Kurt looked at him with a frown. "Look, I know you and her have some... bad history," William continued. "But she's literally the only doctor here."
Kurt remained silent, but his face said "Please don't leave me with her.". Kurt knew Emily's true colors- even her real identity. After all, she DID fried his brain back at the asylum. She was lying to everyone in the mansion, and the only other person to realize that is Mr. Reily, and he spent most of the time either mourning his dead ex-wife, complaining about other survivors and trying to hold himself from throwing hands at Kreacher.
"Look, Kurt, you know I can't be there with you, and I know it's hard for you to be around her for some reason." William said. "How about I'll cook ya something to make up for it?"
"Wait, really?" Kurt asked. He WAS a bit hungry, and William IS a great cook... "Okay, it's a deal then."
William chuckled a little. Kurt was so cute like that in his arms. His goatee tickled against William's neck, and his small hands holding on to his shoulders... It made William forget about every hint of anxiety he had. Whether it was the fear of this game, or the fear that Servais could kill him at any given moment...
