[A/N: I swear to YIDRAH, our detective boy needs more love. From the fandom, of course, but ESPECIALLY from mama Netease. Like, damn, people, the man has a child to rescue!]

You were currently running down the hospital's hallway, your heart beating at the speed of light as cold sweat runs down your face. A doctor was waiting for you in front of one of the rooms.

"I came here as soon as I can." you said as you panted for dear air. "Please tell me that he's okay."

"He's fine," the doctor said. "However, the damage caused him a huge memory loss. You might have to prepare yourself."

Memory loss?

You pushed the doctor aside and entered the room. Your fiance, Orpheus, was currently laying in bed, with a nurse right next to him. She got up and walked towards you.

"He doesn't even recognize his own novels." She whispered in your ear.

Oh, lord. This is bad. Orpheus novels were his pride, so... why can't he remember them? Does that mean he forgot you as well?

"Good luck, darling." The nurse said, giving you a soft smile. "Try to be gentle with him."

She left the room, leaving you two alone. You sat on the chair near his bed and looked at him. He was currently napping. His forehead and hand were wrapped in bandages, and his own novels were on the floor, teared to shards. You gulped as you hesitatly took his bandaged hand in yours.

His eyes slowly opened, and he turned to look at you. His confusion turned into a calm smile.

"[Y/N]..." He said, his voice was quiet.

Your eyes filled with tears of joy. He didn't forget you. "Hey there, bookworm." You said, giving him a soft smile as you held on to his hand. "I... I was scared you'll forget me."

"How can I forget you?" He chuckled. "It's not like my brain is about to make me forget that we're about to get married."

"Neither was I." You said, placing a soft kiss on his forehead.

"I mean, my memory is a mess right now." Orpheus said. "But I do remember some important stuff."

"Want me to test you?" You asked. He nodded.

"Just don't freak out if I forget a few things, okay?" Orpheus asked.

"It's okay, dear." You replied, kissing his hand.

You thought about the first question. You knew he wanted you to ask him about your relationship.

"Do you remember how we first met?" You asked.

"I think so." Orpheus replied. "We were in highschool, I think? We had a group project for litreture class, and we both did most of the work."

Yup. That was pretty accurate. You two were the biggest nerds of the class. You nodded, letting him know he's right.

"Good job, dear." You smiled. "Okay, remember our first 'Date'?"

It took him some time before speaking, but... he seemed to remember.

"I was driving, you just climbed into my car while running away from some thugs." He replied. "You just yelled at me 'Drive, motherfucker, drive!', so I did. We then grabbed coffee?"

Yeah. The most romantic way to start a date.

"And then..." He continued. "I think you kissed me on the cheek when I dropped you off at your place, telling me that it was the best date you ever had."

You laugh a little as you remember his expression that day.

"You were so nervous after that." You chuckled. "It was adorable."

Your fingers intertwined with his.

"What about our first kiss?" You asked.

He looked at the teared pages. "I think it had something to do with these stories I wrote?" Orpheus asked. You nodded. He took a second to try and piece everything together in his mind. "Yeah. I think I let you read one of my drafts?" He said. "And there was a kiss scene between two side characters, and you asked me if that's how I imagined our first kiss to be like?"

"Yeah." You replied. "One of them was a novelist and he let the other one read the draft which included a love letter.". That scene really impressed you.

"And then I think I kissed you." He said. "And I didn't think you'd kiss back, but... you did."

His cheeks flushed red.

He then looked at the ring on your hand, and his smile slowly turned into a frown.

"Orphey?" You asked, cupping his cheek. "What's wrong?"

"[Y/N], I..." He said. "I don't remember proposing you."

GOD FUCKING DAMNIT, OUT OF ALL THE THINGS YOU COULD FORGET-

"It's okay." You told him in a calm voice. You started to tell him about that date you two had a few months ago.

---

It was raining, but Orpheus didn't seem to mind that at that time. He was such a goof, and you found it cute. You remembered that restaurant you two ate at. There was this guy who almost choked on fish, and for some reason the two of you found it a bit funny. Then, as you arrived to his apartment, he asked you to read a chapter he's thinking about adding to one of his books. He seemed nervous about it, so you thought that maybe he was insecure about it, which was unusual for him. The chapter itself was normal, but... you noticed the end. It was handwritten, and it only said "You then turn around.".

Confused, you did as the text said, and you saw Orpheus kneeling, pulling out a ring.

"I'm bad at talking, but... I guess I'm gonna try it now." He said, looking up at you. "You made me feel things I haven't felt in years. I can't remember smiling like that in the childhood, or feeling this motivated to write before we started dating. I... I think you know where this conversation is going, huh?"

You smiled and nodded, tears pricking in your eyes.

"So, [Y/N]," He said, holding your hand gently. "Will you marry me?"

You fell down to the floor, tears falling down your face and you weren't sure if you were laughing or crying.

"Yes!" You screamed. "Holy shit, yes!"

He smiled widely as he put the ring on your finger, then pulled you into a passionate kiss. You held onto him, running your hands through his wet hair. You never felt this happy before, and you couldn't wait to spend the rest of your life with him.

---

"Wow." Orpheus said as you finished reminding him of that day. "I really used my novels for everything, huh? I feel kinda bad for tearing it up now."

"It's okay, Orphey." you said, placing another soft kiss to his hand. "The important thing is that you're here with me in one piece. That's all that matters for me."

You leaned down to gently kiss him.

"I love you." He said as you pulled away.

"I love you too, Orphey." You replied, cupping his cheek. "Now rest. You need that."

"And you?" He asked.

"I'll be here with you. Don't worry." You replied.

You still held his hand as he drifted back to sleep. Sure, your relationship might have lost a few things, but...

you two would make it work.
