The events of the past few weeks have been...something to say the least. It all started with Pillow and Blankets War, which then evolved into Chang bypassing the help he asked me for and ending up with the extra power he needed. Then, the riots at Starburn's memorial happened.
All hell broke loose thanks to Chang unleashing the already insanely overpowered preteens. Jeff and the study group are being blamed for it now. They have a meeting with the school board this afternoon, and they were deciding if they were going to be expelled or not. And honestly, my head was spinning with worry.
I know that Chang has an unprecedented ability to weasel his way into whatever situation he can and get the outcome he wants. What he told me on the last day of the fall semester rang through my mind constantly, just making me even more worried.
"Just know, you will be safe when the Chang Dynasty rules."
Thinking back to that conversation left a nasty taste in my mouth and an even nastier feeling in my stomach. The recent events have made his intentions incredibly clear, and it was making me anxious. He was planning something, but I was unsure of what it was. I think it was also taking a toll on the Dean. I haven't made him any new costumes in the past week and haven't even touched any old ones up! It was entirely out of his character.
Jeff❤: Hey, uh, won't be coming back to campus.
Me: omg did you get expelled???
Jeff❤: Yeah...and we're not allowed back on campus.
Me: that's bs.
"Whitley, no phones while you're working. The Dean is allowing me to move into his office to improve security. However, there will be a few new rules," Chang stated as he strolled into the office.
"Where's Craig at?" I asked, cocking an eyebrow.
"That's none of your concern. Now, the new rules are as follows," he replied, handing me a piece of paper.
"The use of your personal phone is now prohibited while at work. You are now my secretary and will take care of the stuff I see necessary. Also, everything that happens on campus is now confidential. You say a word to Winger or any of the other study group members, and you're fired."
I nodded, reading through the paper he handed me. It was almost entirely illegible, and the only things I could make out were the rules Chang had just explained. It was definitely scribbled down by one of the preteens, so it was probably all nonsense anyway.
"Sounds good, I guess. Are my hours still the same? And is the Dean still in charge?" I asked.
"I am going to need you to come in an hour earlier and stay a few hours later. Just for daily debriefings and things...and yes, he's still in charge in a sense. We make decisions together now," he shrugged, walking into the Dean's office. I shook my head, pulling my phone out and sending Jeff a quick text to tell him I could no longer use my phone during work.
"Do I still only focus on student paperwork? Or do you have something else for me to work on today?" I asked, spinning around in my chair to face him.
"I actually need you to do all school-related paperwork now," he replied. I nodded and faced back towards my monitor.
"I better be getting a pay raise, Chang. I'm not doin' Craig's job for free," I shouted, pulling up the paperwork I needed to get done.
"Yeah, yeah. I'll get it done," he replied, slamming his new office doors behind him.

I knocked on Jeff's apartment door and waited for him to open it. After a minute, he did and welcomed me in, giving me a kiss on the cheek as he placed his hand on the small of my back and led me to the couch.
"So, you were expelled, huh? What are you going to do? I mean, about the bachelor's degree?" I asked as we sat down.
"I don't know. I'm going to do my best to get back in. We all are, but right now, I think we're going to let things cool down. Abed won't shut up about the Dean not being the real Dean, but I think he's just having some issues coping with the change," Jeff sighed, putting his arm around me.
"I get that. I don't think I'll even be seeing the Dean anymore, and Chang might be in charge. Oh! I'm no longer allowed to talk about stuff that happens on campus. And with my luck, my phone has been bugged by Chang. I don't want to risk it. So, that's all you're getting out of me," I laughed.
"Wait, what? That can't be legal. Give me your phone," he demanded, holding his hand out. I reluctantly gave him my phone, and he stood up, opened up the sliding door to his deck, and set the phone down before closing it again. He came back in and went to his room, coming out with his jacket and car keys a minute later.
"Whatcha' doin' there, baby?" I asked.
"Come on, we're getting you a second phone. I don't trust Chang, and you jokingly saying your phone could be bugged makes me unsettled. Don't tell anyone about this one, not even Darla. I'll pay for it," he explained, holding a hand out to help me up.
"No, that's not necessary. I doubt it's actually bugged. Plus, if it is, we can just leave it outside, or I can leave it in my car. Surely, he's not that advanced with technology," I said, laughing as I motioned for him to sit back down. He did, after a moment of hesitance, pouting as he turned to face me.
"Fine, but now that it's outside, what is going on?"
"Well, I'm not sure yet. I know I'm getting a raise, but only because I'm now in charge of all of the school's paperwork. Like, even the stuff Craig used to do," I explained.
"Craig? Are you and the Dean on a first-name basis?" Jeff laughed.
"Yes, we are. But Chang also moved into the Dean's office and told me I'm not allowed to ask questions. And that I would be fired if I said anything about what happens on campus to you or the study group," I shrugged.
"That's really unsettling," he replied.
"Yeah, but I'm off work now. Can we talk about something else? Please?" I sighed, pouting.
"What would you like to talk about, then?" he asked.
"What did you do today? After the meeting, I mean," I asked as I rested my head on his shoulder, snuggling into his side.
"Well, I came home and sat in shocked silence for a bit. Then I started catching up on some of the shows I missed. I didn't do much," he shrugged.
"You're lame," I teased, sticking my tongue out at him. He looked down at me with feigned annoyance, laughing before too long.
"Well, what do you have in mind then? If you're just such an exciting person."
I smiled, leaning up and kissing his neck gently. He groaned softly, nodding as he pulled me up and to the bedroom.
