The country in front of her seemed friendly enough, cocking his head and smiling, but as he walked towards her, Y/N heard North's bitter voice in her head with startling clarity.

       'What happened to your eye?'

'My brother took it when he attacked me.'

The girl took a nervous step back, past North's door, acutely aware of the dead-end behind her.

"I'm South Korea," the Countryhuman introduced himself, bowing slightly.

"I k-know," Y/N stuttered, and South seemed surprised.

"You have an accent?" he asked, coming closer. He looked concerned. "You're a foreigner? Are you okay? Where are you from? Do I... " He frowned. "Do I know you?"

His onslaught of questions made Y/N shake, and she hunched her shoulders as he reached a hand towards her.

All of a sudden, the door between them slid open, and South quickly withdrew his hand. "Brother," he greeted nervously.

North was standing in the doorway, arms crossed, and Y/N felt so relieved that she could have hugged him, though she was unsure if she'd survive the attempt.

"Brother," the blue Countryhuman said coolly back. He noticed Y/N and his eye flashed. "Go back to your room," he said, glaring at South.

Y/N didn't need to be told twice, and she eagerly slid by the Southern Korea, practically sprinting back to her room. Her guards were at the foot of the stairs. They must have been escorting South Korea up to North's office.

      She looked nervously up.

'This can't be good,' she thought, sliding into her room.

"North, who was that?" his brother asked, as soon as he closed the door. "That was a foreigner. What are you doing, brother?"

"Defecting isn't a one-way street, brother," North said back, sarcasm tinging the last word.

"Did you kidnap her?" the Southern Korea asked.

"She-" North growled, smacking his palm on his desk. "-Is my business, not yours. Now sit."

The two Koreas stared at each other, tension crackling in the air, before South hesitantly sat. Only when his brother was seated, did North sit, too.

"Now," he asked. "What was so important that you had to come all the way here? If it's not about lifting the sanctions, I don't want to hear it."

His brother took a deep breath. "North, please give up."

Immediately the other Countryhuman was back on his feet. "Of course that's why you're here," he growled. "You can never just be happy for me."

"North-" South begged, but his brother cut him off.

"No- you do this every year, South, and I am sick of it." He slammed his fist on the table to punctuate his words. "Though I suppose you want me to be honoured that you actually came in person to do it, this time, instead of over the phone. Who put you up to this? America?"

"No one put me up to it!" South exclaimed, joining North in standing. "Your people are starving. I just want what's best for you-"

North laughed harshly. "And why are my people starving? Because you and your puppet-master won't allow anyone to trade with me. If you really wanted what was best for me, and you, you'd lift the sanctions and tell America to fuck off."
