Almost immediately, the country's smile fell, before he pasted it back on, sliding his sunglasses back up.

"America," Germany sighed. "You did not sign up for this council. This is a meeting for disenfranchised countries-"

"And who's more disenfranchised than me?" The American country sauntered down to the front, leaning against China's podium. "Besides, we need someone like me here to keep you commies under control."

Several of the non-Communist countries looked offended at this, and the red-blue-yellow country with the stars looked on the verge of murder.

China- smile back on his face- looked up at America. "If he's too stupid to understand the meaning of 'disenfranchised,' can we really blame him, Germany? Maybe if he spent a bit more of that military money on free education, we wouldn't be having this discussion."

"Maybe none of us would be," the yellow-red-blue tricolour barked.

"Maybe you should spend less time running your mouth-" America growled, before being interrupted by Somalia spewing water across the table. He flinched back in disgust.

China patted the African country's back again. "There, there. See?" he said to America. "You're upsetting Somalia."

Germany held up a hand when America opened his mouth to respond. "Stop!" he barked. "America," he said sternly. "If you are going to be here, you need to be quiet."

"I know that's hard for you," North growled.

"North, China- you too," Germany said tiredly, and China pantomimed locking his mouth and throwing away the key.

North growled angrily, but sat down.

"Now, Venezuela." Germany gestured to the red-blue-yellow tricolour. "You are our first speaker."

"I don't want to talk with him here!" Venezuela snarled, pointing at America.

"Seconded," Russia growled, clutching at his desk.

"Russia, please," Germany sighed. "You already work with him on your own."

"Which means when I don't have to, I will not." Russia thumped his fist on the tabletop, and his siblings flinched.

"N-North," Y/N stuttered, finding it hard to speak past the thumping in her chest. "C-Can I go to the washroom?"

Not looking at her, North said, "Go- this isn't going to go anywhere for awhile."

Wishing that he would look at her before she never saw him again, Y/N slid up to the wall, slinking around the room until she could slip out the door. She cast one last look toward North. She could feel eyes on her- they weren't his.

"I love you," she whispered, tears slipping out of her eyes, before she slipped out of the room.

In the quiet hallway, she followed the signs for the washroom. She needed to get herself together before searching for an exit. Looking distressed would just draw unwanted attention to her.

Leaning her forehead against the smooth wall next to the bathroom door, she took deep breaths, trying to calm the beating of her heart.

But when a voice spoke, saying something in a language that she didn't know, before her translator said, "Are you okay?" made her heart kick right back up.

Y/N whirled around, coming face to face with a female Countryhuman.

The girl was white, with a red circle on her face. She had cat ears and a tail, and was dressed in a black pencil skirt and blazer. Japan.
