They dropped Syria off at the Sunan International airport across town, then drove back.

"Where are we going?" Y/N asked as they drove by their turnoff.

"We're ditching the drunks, and going to watch the fireworks," North said from the front seat.

"Poor Palestine," Y/N sighed, and North nodded.

"Israel's really done a number on him."

"N-No," Y/N said. "I meant... leaving him with the others."

"Oh. That too," North agreed. "You didn't agree to whatever China tried to get you to buy, did you?"

"No," Y/N said. "He almost got me. It was a phone."

North sighed. "I'm going to have to get State Security to track down that woman."

They got dropped off at the park across from Kim Il-sung Square, and their driver took off.

"I'm not going to get shot this time, am I?" Y/N asked as they headed towards the riverbank. They were far away from the bushes, and a few feet away from the water.

"No," North said seriously. "I've got people everywhere."

They sat down just as the fireworks started, blossoming across the sky in starbursts of gold, red and every other colour. People further down the bank cheered.

"Are you drunk?" Y/N asked North curiously. She had seen him with a mug of beer at every bar, but he seemed sober.

North shook his head. "I don't get drunk. I just refilled South Pyongan's glass every time she finished hers. You're not either, are you?"

That was why the province had been absolutely hammered after the second bar.

     "No," Y/N said. "I don't really drink."

"You were the one who agreed to go." North cocked his brow at her. "And you don't drink?"

Y/N shrugged. "I just thought that it would be fun." She smiled. "And it was. Thank you."

North 'tch'ed.' "You're welcome," he grumbled. "I... had fun, too."

"Soooooo..." Y/N trailed off. "This was a... date, right?"

"Don't make me say it again," North growled.

"Soooooo," she started again, wiping her palms on her skirt. "We should... um..." She lost her nerve.

"What?" North asked, looking at her.

"Nevermind." Y/N blushed, fiddling with the pins on her collar.

They sat quietly as the fireworks intermittently lit up the sky, and each other.

"Were you going to suggest that we kiss?" North asked eventually, watching the sky.

"Um, maybe?" Y/N said meekly. "If- If you want to."

"Do you want to?" North asked, still avoiding looking at her.

Y/N had to muster all of her pent-up courage to say the two syllables. "Um, yes..."

"Close your eyes, then," North said gruffly.

       "Um, why?"

"Just do it," he snapped. "I'm not going to even look at you until your eyes are closed."
