Harry and I had first became acquainted on the sorting night, on our first year, when most first years were fussing over the Harry Potter being in our year, but to be honest, I couldn't care less about that.
And so, I had approached him to tell him that he had something on his face, which had been bugging me since the feast had ended and when I approached him and simply said that he had something on his face, he had been so happy that I hadn't mentioned his scar or background that we had become rather quick friends.
To be honest I hadn't mentioned anything because I didn't know anything, as a muggleborn I hadn't known about wizards until I got my letter from Hogwarts, which had been a pretty drastic change.

"Hey, you're still here?" Harry asked behind me and I turned around to look at him.
"Oh, hi Harry, I just got back from the library." I explained and Harry nodded.
"Remember when in first year I was happy that you treated me like I was someone normal and not the boy who lived and all that rubbish?" he asked as he sat next to me on the sofa, and I smiled.
"Of course I do! You kept hovering around me because I didn't treat you like royalty-" I said, and he smiled as he bumped his shoulder against mine and laid his head on my shoulder.
"Can you do that again? I need a break from all this Triwizard mania. Everyone's either going crazy about me or calling me the most awful things." he explained, and I nodded immediately.
"Things have been pretty hectic around here, I'll give you that." I said before I looked at Harry. "But honestly, when haven't I treated you like you're another one of the morons that try to look up skirts ever since their wands were self-taught Wingardium Leviosa? " I asked and Harry laughed before getting more comfortable in the sofa and laying his head on my legs. I started to run my hands through his hair.

"What did you think of the guys from the other schools?"
I snorted. "Like every other girl, I only had eyes for Krum, and you know it." I admitted and watched as Harry's eyes clouded over. I tried to push that to the back of my mind before I could begin to wonder why they had clouded over. "But what about you Potter? Anyone caught your fancy?"
Harry shook his head before his eyes fixed on me. "I only have eyes for one girl, it's come to the point where I don't even have it in me to look at other girls because I always find myself thinking they are not her."
We all knew who this girl was. Her name was Ginny Weasley, and she was currently dating one of Harry's roommates.
I looked around the common room and let out a small sigh as I wondered if he was ever going to notice me.
"Well Potter, welcome to the world of unrequited love. It sucks in here."

(...)

Harry had been swept into the Triwizard mania and I hadn't seen much of him in these past weeks, save for when I saw him before the task to retrieve the dragon egg and at the party, they hosted for him afterwards. And of course, when we learned about the dreadful ball I was planning to skip.

I mean, I was still dateless, and even if Hermione, Ginny, and Luna were bending over backwards to get me to go, I didn't see the point. Harry was never going to ask me, and I honestly didn't see any point to going without him, just to see him with someone else.
But, even if I was planning on skipping, I couldn't skip the dance lessons, since they were apparently mandatory.

As professor McGonagall finished her speech, I rose my arm. "Miss Anderson?"
"Those of us who aren't planning on attending the ball can sit this dance lesson out?" I asked and Professor McGonagall shook her head as I felt a heavy stare rooted to me.
"I'm afraid these lessons are mandatory, for every student." she said, and I sighed as I nodded and heard one of the Weasley twins whispering in my ear.
"Got no date Anderson?"
I turned back as I watched everyone partner up and stuck my tongue out. "None of your concern Forge." I said as I saw Harry approach me from the corner of my eye.
"You know, I'm actually Gred."

Harry cleared his throat as the twins left us alone. "Want to dance?"
I looked up at him and nodded. "As long as you don't stomp on my feet, it's cool by me."
Harry glanced away from me before smiling, "I'm not making any promises."
We watched and followed McGonagall's instructions for what seemed like an eternity, and when she finally dismissed us and I approached Ginny to go with her to the common room, Harry joined me.
Sending Ginny away with a small smile, I pretended I didn't see the look she threw me for being with Harry. But why was she jealous if she was dating Dean?!

"Hey look, Anderson..." he started and I looked at him, gesturing for him to go on. "I overheard you tell the twins you don't have a date to the ball... Do you want to go together?"
I stared at him with a dumbfounded expression on my face before nodding with a small smile. "Sure."
Harry smiled at me, a smile brighter than I'd seen on him and patted my shoulder.
"You said yes, so you can't back down after this." he stated, and I rubbed a hand over my face. "We will be dancing the first dance in the tournament. McGonagall will give us extra lessons to make sure we don't make a fool of ourselves." Harry skipped away and left me cursing at his back.
It was stuff like this that made me wonder why people treated him like he was a hero when in reality he was just another teenage boy.
