            The day goes.

It's dark outside now; we've just finished eating dinner. Though admittedly I didn't eat much. I mostly just pushed my food around on the plate. I lost my appetite after what Alfie told us, explaining what he heard and saw happen in Sweet's office.

Amber gave the adults the parcel. The bracelet. At first, we thought there might be an explanation for what he saw. One that didn't involve her betraying us. But we got stuck on it, and now it's the only thing I can think about. There has to be something else going on here. Amber would never do that to us. And the worst part of all this? We haven't seen a single sign of her since then.

The dining and living room are mostly quiet. Trudy's cleaning up, telling Jerome to hurry up with his food (he gets up and leaves just moments later). Mara's studying. Joy and KT are on the former's new laptop. Alfie, Patricia, Fabian, and I are sitting on the couches, trying to find something to say.

"I don't get it," Patricia finally breaks our silence, speaking quietly so no one else hears. "I'd never believe Amber would betray us. Never."

"We heard her," Alfie responds sharply. He's taking it worse than any of us. "We saw her give Victor the bracelet." Patricia motions for him to shut up as KT sits down on the couch beside us, a tablet in her hand.

Just then, we hear slow claps, coming from Victor as he walks in. "Good evening, everyone," he greets, and I roll my eyes. "Your attention please. Miss Millington has left the school."

"What?" I ask as everyone chimes in with their own questions. No, no way. Amber hasn't left. She wouldn't, not without saying anything! "What do you mean she's left?"

"She is currently traveling back to America with her father," Victor continues, "where she will attend some fashion school."

            "You're lying," Patricia accuses him.

Alfie stands. "Not now. She couldn't." He looks around at us. "She wouldn't! She didn't even say goodbye!"

Victor just smiles, turning around and leaving.

Alfie lays his hands flat on the coffee table he was sitting on. "This can't be happening. First, she gives Victor the bracelet, and now she's gone?!" He leaves, despite our saying his name.

Patricia sets her sights on KT. "Did you know anything about this?"

KT looks at us, eyes wide. "What? No. Why?"

"Well, you seem very interested in what's happening to her."

            "I was just worried."
