Fabian figured it out at the same time I did. The six of us ran into each other after class and he and I said it at the same time. Great minds think alike, huh? Well, it's been a day since then, and the eclipse is tomorrow. And we have no idea how we're supposed to do this.

"Only one day to go," Trudy says happily, coming out of the kitchen with a pitcher of orange juice.

She sets it on the counter as Eddie says, "We know, Trudy. The eclipse is tomorrow."

"It's pretty much all we've been thinking about," Fabian adds.

"Well," Trudy says, "Mr. Sweet will be very pleased to hear it. He just wants to make sure that everybody knows what's coming."

Uh, evil. Evil is coming.

As Trudy goes back into the kitchen, she leaves us alone. It's only Sibuna at the table. Patricia remarks, "An ancient evil is what's coming."

"Literally exactly what I was thinking," I inform her. If she and Willow actually switch rooms, I'm really looking forward to having another Sibuna as a roomie again.

"Come on, guys," KT states. "I was sent here to fix this, and we're a day away, and we still have no plan."

"There's got to be a way," Eddie remarks.

Patricia looks at all of us. "If we can't do the ceremony ourselves, then we just have to make sure the adults can't do it, either."

"But I was sent here to stop—" KT starts.

"To stop a great evil, yes," Patricia finishes. "So we make sure they can't have the things they need: the bracelet and either of the descendants. Am I right?"

"She's right," I agree. "We'll be able to stop the great evil if we don't let them start it. But it'll be easier keeping you and me away from them." I'm only there as a back-up descendant if it didn't work. They probably already think I'm what they need because I'm pretty sure they don't know KT's Frobisher's great-granddaughter. There hasn't been any sign they know. To the adults, I'm probably the closest thing to a blood descendant of the Frobisher-Smythe family they got. And even if they do get me, like I said, I'm not blood. It won't work.

"But what about Frobisher?" KT asks. "My great-grandfather just stays asleep? Forever?"

"It's better than the whole great evil thing," Patricia says.

"And he's already supposed to be dead," I add gently. "I'm sorry, KT."

KT shakes her head. "I can't give up on him. I want to see him at peace."
