Note: Tsundere is a Japanese term for a character development process that depicts a character with a personality who is initially polarized warm/soft, cold, temperamental, hotheaded before gradually showing a warmer, friendlier side over time.
I parked my car in the student car lot and switched off the engine while Lily and Zinnia got off the car. We three walked together to the main building of our St. Peter's college, one of the best in New Zealand, talking about random things, especially about how tiring our weekend homework was.
Me and Lily were on good terms after that small scene at home. Fighting, yelling at each other, being on good terms later, this was something wonted between us.
While we were about to enter the building, someone called Lily from behind. We three turned around to see Andrew, Lily's boyfriend, hopping on his feet and walking towards us. While Lily's face went bright with her ear to ear grin, my face showed the contrast. And Zinnia was busy ogling at the cheer girls, who had their tight white outfits sticking onto their slim bodies because of sweat as they had just finished practice and were on their way to the washroom.
"Hey, babe", said Andrew, leaning towards Lily to peck her lips. Lily's face blushed like a ripe tomato to the name he called her and also because of the kiss.
Enough with the blushing already! It's been three months since this dude is kissing you here and there.
"Hi, baby. How are you?" asked Lily by putting a strand of loose hair behind her ear.
"I'm fine and hey, I'm sorry about keeping you waiting at Jake's party. I had to do some urgent errands for my roommate."
Keeping you waiting? Did you mean stood you up? You should probably use that phrase as it's the accurate one. And you could have called and that's why humans use that device. Duh!
"Oh, it's fine. It isn't a big deal", said Lily.
Yeah, it isn't a big deal because you are used to it and besotted with him.
"Really? You sure?", asked Andrew even though he already knew the answer.
Dude, just put off the fucking drama.
"Yeah, Drew. It's totally fine. You said you were busy and that's why you couldn't show up, right? It's fine," Lily reassured him with a lie.
"I can make it up to you baby. I just got busy all of a sudden that night."
"Then you could have just called and said that you were busy so she wouldn't be expecting you, right? I mean, that's why you carry a cellphone," I said out of nowhere as I was done talking to myself and also with Andrew's fucking drama.
Hearing my voice, Zinnia's attention diverted from the hot cheer girls to me and the couple. She slowly stepped closer to me and nudged my arm. I couldn't care less about Zinnia as I was waiting for an answer, more like a lie to roll off from Andrew's tongue.
"Uhmm..yeah, you are right. You know I was just bustling with my errands," said Andrew, giggling.
"Yeah, ok. If that's what you say," I said, crossing my arms across my chest and looked at Zinnia.
Zinnia was giving me that 'not again you bitch' look. I rolled my eyes at her.
"Ok, baby, how about you buy me my favorite milkshake after college to make it upto me?" asked Lily, trying her best to lighten the awkward aura around us.
"Yeah. Sure, babe. I gotta go. I will see you soon. Bye," said Andrew, giving her a hug and a peck on her cheeks.
Before leaving, he smiled at Zinnia and me. He didn't wait for us to return the smile and walked away.
