~Aurora's Pov~The next day~
Most of us were out looking for Sophia today. Unfortunately, we've found nothing so far. We were at a church right now, we thought it was Sophia ringing the bells but it turned out to be speakers hooked to a timer. "Y'all gotta follow the creek bed back, okay?" We all looked over to see Shane walking back to us, "Daryl you're in charge. Me and Rick, we're just gonna hang back. Search this area another hour or so just to be thorough." Shane said looking at us. I looked at my dad and he gave me a small nod, knowing I was looking for approval. "You're splitting us up. You sure?" Daryl asked looking at Shane. "Yeah, we'll catch up to you." Shane said holding his shotgun.
"I wanna stay too. I'm her friend." Carl spoke out, there was a pause as my parents looked at each other silently debating. "Just be careful, okay?" Mom asked walking up to him. "I will." He said looking up at her. Mom put her hands on his cheeks. "When did you start growing up?" She asked looking down at him, Carl smiled at the comment he received from mom. Mom pulled him into her and held him close. Dad walked over to me and put a hand on the side of my head.
"You wanna come too?" He asked. I shook my head, "I'll stay with mom." I said softly. "Alright," He said with a slow nod, "Come here" he said and put his hand on my shoulder, pulling me in for a hug. I hugged him back, closing my eyes and resting my head on his chest. He kissed my head and we pulled away, he put his hand on my cheek and gave me a warm smile. I returned it as he brushed my cheek slightly with his thumb. He let me go and went to mom.
I held my arms out towards Carl. He came to me and we hugged, I rubbed his back. "Be careful alright.?" I asked. "I know, I will. Don't worry." He said and we pulled away. "See you later," I said. He nodded smiling at me. I returned the smile and looked over at Shane who was looking at mom and dad as they kissed goodbye. He looked at me and I shook my head slightly, he walked away from all of us. "Here, take this." Dad said holding his gun out towards mom. I looked at them both, "Remember how to use it?" he asked. "I'm not taking your gun and leaving you unarmed." She said looking at him as she walked away slightly.
"Here, got a spare." Daryl said walking over to her, holding out a small revolver towards her. "Take it." he said. Mom took it from him and we split up.

"You still worrying about it?" Andrea asked, I looked back to see my mom looking back, no longer walking with us. Earlier we heard a gunshot go off, "That was a gunshot." Mom said still not walking. "We all heard it." Daryl said, looking around some more. We were heading back to Dale and T-Dog who were at the RV back at the highway. Mom turned around to look at us, "Why one? Why just one gunshot?" She asked, I saw the look on her face. She was worried, "Maybe they took down a walker." Daryl responded, looking back at her.
"Please don't patronize me. You know Rick wouldn't risk a gunshot to put down a walker. Or Shane, they'd do it quietly." She said looking at him then behind her again. "Shouldn't they have caught up with us by now?" Carol asked, jumping in the conversation. "I'm sure they're fine mom.. If it was something else we would've heard more." I said, she kept looking back. "There's nothing we can do about it anyway. Can't run around these woods chasing echoes." Daryl said trying to get us moving again.
"So what do we do?" Mom asked looking back at us again. "Same as we've been. Beat the bush for Sophia, work our way back to the highway." He said looking at her. "I'm sure they'll hook up with us back at the RV." Andrea said looking at us.

We heard a scream coming from Andrea. We looked back to see that she wasn't anywhere near us. "Andrea?!" Mom called out and we ran towards the screams to see a walker on top of her. Suddenly a woman came riding on a horse knocking the walker off of Andrea with a bat.
"Lori? Lori Grimes?!" The woman said looking at us. Mom stepped up, "I'm Lori." She said. "Rick sent me. You've got to come now." She said putting her bat in a holster. "What?!" She asked, confused. "There's been an accident. Carl's been shot." She said. I furrowed my eyebrows looking at the girl on the horse. "Wh-" I choked on my words as I looked at her. "He's still alive but you've got to come now. I can only take one, I can't take your daughter." She said.
My heart started racing slowly, this didn't feel real. Mom looked over to me and I did the same. "Rick needs you. Just come.!" The woman said looking at her. I looked at my mom. "Mom-?" I asked. She put her hands on my cheeks. "Stay." She said and kissed my cheek. She took off her backpack and dropped it. "What- Mom you can't leave me- Mom!" I said as she made her way towards the girl on the horse.
"Whoa whoa whoa. We don't know this girl! You can't get on that horse!" Daryl called out to my mom, Mom ignored Daryl and hopped on the horse. "Rick said you had others on the highway, that big traffic snarl?!" She asked looking at us. "Uh-huh." Glenn said looking at her. I felt my eyes start to burn with tears, "Backtrack to Fairburn road. Two miles down is our farm. You'll see the mailbox. The name's Greene." She said and took off with my mom.
Carl was shot?
I kept looking at the distance in shock, processing. I heard groaning next to me, Daryl stepped up and pointed his crossbow. "Shut up." He said and shot the walker. He walked by me and pulled his arrow out of the walker's head then looked at me, flicking the blood off the arrow. I gasped a bit and a tear fell as it started to hit me that my brother was shot.
Everyone looked at me, like they were waiting for my reaction. I felt a hand on my shoulder but I didn't move. "Aurora.." Glenn spoke and stood in front of me. I looked at him. "We gotta get back to the highway okay? Get everything ready to get you to the farm okay?" he asked, keeping his hand on my shoulder. "Okay-" I cried a bit. He frowned slightly looking at me. "Okay.." he said and pulled me into him. "We'll get you there okay? I promise. But we have to go now. The quicker the better." he said and pulled me away after a second. I looked at him, catching my breath a little. "Okay?" he repeated. I nodded, "Alright." he said and we all started heading back to the highway.
