A/N: It's almost twelve and I will post this now.
"It's bright out now," Mako pointed out, "let's head inside." He stood up and turns towards me, leaving out his hand for me. "Are we? Holding hands," I questioned him. I wouldn't oppose to but I wasn't sure what he wanted. "I- uh- what," he questioned me. "Your hand is out," I pointed to his hand, "do you want to hold my hand?" At this point, I was genuinely confused on what he wanted. But suddenly he grabs my hand and pulls me from my seat into his arms. "Mako- Aaaah," I yelped as I fell into his arms.
-
"Mako," I exclaimed, "help!"I was on the ledge of a building. "This was such a bad idea," I thought to myself as I was on the verge of death. "I wish Mako were here right now." Then suddenly I hear a voice calling for my name.
-
"M-Mako," I stuttered and pulled back from him, "S-sorry for falling on you." I looked away from his eyes and down onto the ground. "I- Ryujin I need to te-," he was about to say until he was interrupted. "You guys are up early," Korra yelled. "Thank god," I thanked her in my head as I turned my head back to see her. Right next to her was Asami whispering in her ear. Then, an angered look appeared on Korra's face. She began to storm towards us and yelled, "Mako, don't you dare try to break that girl's heart even if you know her," she lectured him. "Hey," he exclaimed and put his hands out, "that wasn't my plan." She squinted and glared at the boy. "I have my eye on you," she said as she eyed the boy.Korra walked away to Asami and then they both walked inside. "I'm sorry about that Mako," I apologized, "I didn't mean to get you in trouble by her." Instead of getting mad, he just laughed. "It's okay," he reassured me, "Korra is just like that y'know." There was silence for a short second as we looked into each other's eyes. "We should- uh," I stammered. "Let's go inside," he said the words right out my mouth. I nodded and began to walk inside the house with him.
As we entered the hallway, we encountered a very uppity Bolin. "Hey Mako! Hey Ryujin," he greeted us, "Mako where were you? You were gone when I woke up." Suddenly, his facial expression changed into a shocked one. "Are you guys...," Bolin asked but didn't bother the question. I didn't know whether to ask him to finish or just let it be. "No," Mako exclaimed, "We aren't dating if that's what you think. I don't think it'll ever happen." That line shattered my heart a little. I never had any feelings for him but hearing that and considering what had happened made me feel like complete garbage. "Yea," I said softly as I looked to the ground, "I'm heading to the dining room."
I walked away from the pair with my head down and my body hunched. I felt defeated as I heard Mako's words. "I don't like him but it's actually very hurtful," I said to myself, thinking out loud, "Ugh, I don't need him and he certainly doesn't need me as a partner. Besides he's still hooked up on the avatar anyways." I caught myself going off and covered myself. "I hope no one heard that," I thought to myself as I walked to the Dinning room.
Once I got there, I realized that I was still in my pajamas. "Oh Fuck," I said and turned around but when I did, I was not delighted. "Oh," I said and turned my back around, "it's you."
Instead of talking to him, I walked away and headed to my seat. Everyone was there, dressed and ready for the day while I was not. It was kind of embarrassing. "Sorry for being under dressed," I apologized to the group and sat myself with Asami and Korra. "No worries, Ryujin," Suyin reassured me. As I got seated, the two girls raised a brow towards me and smiled suspiciously. "So you and Mako," Korra smiled. Her tone of voice sounded like she was curious about the situation. "I would like to know as well," Asami said and looked at us both. "It's nothing," I simply said, "It's not like Mako wants to date me or anything." They both stared at each other and then the boy across the room. "Mako is crazy obsessed with you," Asami said, "Ever since you've joined us, he couldn't stop talking about how amazing and powerful you are. He's always talking about a blue ribbon and how that day was his best memory. Bad I'm gonna head to how that when you gave it to him, you told him to-," then I interrupted her, "to keep it till we see each other again." I looked up to Mako talking to his brother. He side eye me and quickly looked back to Bolin. I could see the guilt and regret in his eyes as he revert his look to Bolin. "Oh," I simply said and smiled, "that's nice."
A big, buff man appears through the doorway to deliver our breakfast. "Woah," I said in awe as I stared at the meals in front of me. "Breakfast is now served," he said and presented each plate to every one of us.
"Hey," Mako announced as we eat our food, "Has anyone seen Chief Beifong?"
"She's probably off sulking in her room," Korra sassily says.
"She's just probably having a hard time right now," I spoke up, trying to have compassion for her.
"I know she has a problem with me, but she had no right to yell at Opal last night and you at the dinner table," Suyin rebutted.
"Yea, you're right," I said quietly to myself as I picked my food.
I hear two pairs of footsteps approaching the room. As they got closer and appeared, a set of twins walked up to Suyin. "All set for your power disc today, guys," she asked them. "Yea," one of them said, "All set to kick Wei's butt." "I'm going to power disc your face," said the other one, probably Wei. "You should come play with us," one of the twins said to Korra but I wasn't sure. I wasn't the best at telling apart twins and at the same time, these twins served no purpose to me. "It seems I've finished my plate," I said and stood up, "I'm going to go get ready now. Where should I put my plate?" "You could just leave it there," said Suyin. I nodded and head out the door. As I walked out, a familiar duo was seen from down the hall. "Good morning Ryujin," said Varrick. "Oh, Hi," I shyly greeted, "what is that suit you have on?" Varrick cocky smiled appeared across his face as his eyes lit up. "This is my magnet suit prototype. Not sure what to call it though. Should I call it Zhurrick or Var Li," he rambled into my face. I smiled nervously as he got close to me and responded with, "Uh Zhurrick?" "That seems completely fine to me," he smiled and walked off. "What an oddball," I thought to myself as I walked back to my room.
Once I reached my room, I saw a guard from the outside talking to an older man. The older man looked suspicious but I wasn't sure. As I looked at him, he caught me and I quickly raced inside my room. "Hi Rina," I greeted my pet. She chipper at me happily and jumped into my arms. "Ready for another fun day," I smiled. I knew that she couldn't talk but talking to her made me more calm.
"What to wear," I thought to myself as I looked at through my luggage, "I could wear what Varrick bought me but that's just...not me." I was pretty unsure so I headed to the nearby bathroom to brush my teeth and wash up.
When I exited the room, I saw Mako from afar. He started running up towards me so I walked faster. Luckily, I beat him by two steps and reached the door before he could reach me. I slammed the door in his face and locked as fast as I could. "Hmph," I poured to myself. I walked to the sink and began to brush my teeth. After I finished, I unbraided and brushed my hair and washed my face. "Well that was pretty quick," I thought out loud. The blue ribbon was sitting on the counter staring at me with heavy amount of guilt. "Gosh," I groaned. I grabbed two clumps of hair from the front and tie it back. "Now I'm back to normal."
I reached for the door and exited but to my surprise, Mako was still there. He was laying against the wall, shooting little flames on his fingers. When he saw me, he popped up and went after me. "Ryujin wait," he said and grabbed my wrist, "I'm sorry for what I said earlier. It's not that I wouldn't date you. It's just that dating or relationships aren't on my mind right now," he explained himself. I get myself out of his grip and turned to face him. "Yea I get it," I looked and smiled, "but- never mind." Guilt was shown on Mako's face as I erased my thought from my head. "I like your hair," he says to break the silence. I blushed at his compliment and looked away. "Oh, really," I hesitantly said as I played with a few strands. "Yea, it reminded me of when we were k- catching thugs around town," he stuttered. I laughed at his random remark and giggled into my hand. "Well I have to change now," I said, "we could hang out later maybe and with everyone else as well?" "Uh- sure," he nervously said. I walked back to my room and waved goodbye. As I entered my room, I began to think, "why is my heart beating so much?"
