A/N: Sorry for like those crazy updates, school just started and I'm getting used to it.

MAKO POV

I quickly walk to breakfast as I was about to be late. As I raced down the hallway, I was stopped by a reoccurring guard, Da Wei. "Hey," he exclaimed at me, "No running. You don't wanna trip and fall," he smiled. His smile was so mysterious, like he was hiding a secret. I know he knew something about Ryujin which was already a red flag but what else does he know? I need to keep my eye out for him. "Uh, yea," I complied and begin walking to the dining hall. It wasn't too far from here so I could've just walked.

I opened the door to the dining hall and see everyone but me in their seats. "There's an open spot next to Ryujin," Suyin says to me. I walk over to the spot and sat myself down.

"I'm going to head out early and check in Chief," she said as she got up. "I'll come too," I said, "She's also my Chief and I think that it's important for me to go check on her." Ryujin side-eye me as I stood up. "Yes...," she slowly said, "We will both go."

Ryujin and I left the dining hall together, walking to Chief's guesthouse. "She's not in great shape, isn't she," I pointed out the obvious, trying my best to create conversation. "Mhmm," is all I get and a simple nod. She still was timid and red like before. She's been like that all afternoon. But why? Not so long after, I hear Bolin and Korra coming up from behind us, calling our names. "Ryujin! Mako," my brother yelled from across the hall. Before I turned around, I rolled my eyes from annoyance, hoping I could spend this time with Ryujin but it's probably for the best since she's so quiet right now. Both of them got in between us, Korra being next to Ryujin and Bolin next to me. Korra instantly started to talk to Ryujin and Ryujin talked back. Why can't she converse with me? I shouldn't be getting jealous right now. "Hey, Mako," Bolin called out to me, "Are you okay? You seem mad at something." "It's nothing. C'mon, we need to check on Beifong," I tell him, but did I really look that obvious? I watch Korra and Ryujin talk as they smile and occasionally look at me. Was this a set up for them to separate us? What game are they playing here? I watch Ryujin tell Korra something into her ear but I couldn't seem to hear it since it was so quiet. Korea's reaction looked so surprised and she even turned around to look at me, raising her brows and looking at Ryujin as if she was trying to tell me something. I couldn't make it out so I had to shrug it off for now.

Once we reached Chief's guesthouse, we all stood there in silence. Korra was kicking pebbles on the ground, Bolin as frozen as a statue. Ryujin and I looked at each other then looked at the other two. "Uh, who's gonna knock," Korra asked us. Suddenly, she pushed Bolin towards the door but he backed away, exclaiming, "Oh! No, no, no, no, no, no! Not me, you're the avatar. Why can't you do it?" "Uh, I can," Korra responded unsurely, "I just thought that you-," getting tired of their banter, I said, "I'll do it." I walk up to the door but from behind, I see Ryujin hiding behind Korra and Bolin. "I don't know how Chief feels about me yet since the Varrick thing," she mentioned, "So I'll stay right here." I couldn't help but feel bad for her but I shrugged, making her think that it meant no big deal. "I don't think Chief hates you. She's just...I don't know, sort of...," I didn't finish my thought. Describing the Chief was a pretty hard to think about. All I know is that she's diligent at her job and takes it very seriously. I proceed to knock on the huge golden door. It created a clacking noise as I flicked my knuckles against the cold and metallic door. "Uh, Chief, you've been sleeping for 16 hours," I yelled as I pressed my cheek against the door, talking through it, "We just wanted to make sure that you're okay." The door opens suddenly and I fall through the opened door. "Ooh!" I exclaimed as the Chief opens the door. "Good Morning," she says in such a happy tone as she walks out the door. That was out of the blue. We were all sort of bewildered. Ryujin comes out of hiding to help me up. She grabs my arms and pulls me up. "Thank you," I thanked her and fixed myself. "I...it was no biggie," she stutters as she blushes. From behind her, I see Bolin and Korra sliding away from the scene leaving me and Ryujin behind.

"I...um, we were suppose to hang out," she questioned me. "Yea I remember but then Chief fainted," I said to her, "Do you want to explore the city?" Her face couldn't get any more redder than it already was before. It was like she was a blushing mess. She was a blushing mess! Then a sudden realization hit me. It's not Bolin she likes, it's me. I wanted to smile so bad but I held back. "I think Korra would want us to stay here for the time being," she said to me. I simply nodded, slowly, not really listening to what she said and just thinking about my possible hypothesis. "So, should we just head back," she asked me. "Uh...yea, sure," I frantically said as I caught onto what she said. I didn't really pay attention to her words as I was lost in thought.

Ryujin began to walk back inside the house while I stood there, in love. Wait no! Wait, yes?

I quickly rushed next to her side, looking like some sort of crazed maniac. "Are you okay," she asked me as I approach right next to her. I nod my head like an excited dog to answer her question. "Mako, you seem very frantic this morning," she points out to me, "Do you need any rest?" "Nope," I say so cheerfully, "I'm just in a very good mood right now." She blushed from my answer and looked away from me, hiding herself within her hands. "I...I should probably go," she said shyly and excused herself, leaving just me behind. I had to admit, her leaving did pain me a lot. It felt like I did something wrong. It's like she's avoiding me because of how I make her feel. Is that suppose to happen though?

I see Asami outside, sitting on a gazebo, reading a book. I call out to her, "Hey Asami," and rush to her side. "Hi Mako," she politely greets me and closes her book, putting it to the side of her. "Hey, could I ask you a hypothetical question," I said, covering my true intentions. "Go ahead and ask, Mako." I exhaled out deeply and asked, "What does it mean when a person who has the most obvious feelings for you just...flat out ignore you?" I watched Asami look at me with the most deadpan eyes ever. "M...mako," she says, "You're serious?" I nod like my life depended on it. "Is this about Ryujin," she asks me. I shrugged at her, "I mean it's just hypothetical," I defended myself. She let's out a hearty laugh and stands up. "You're a detective," she stated, pointing out the obvious, "You'll eventually get it." She walks away from me, leaving myself alone in my thoughts again. "Argh, I'll never get it."
-
"Y'know kid," Shady Shin once said to me, "If anyone lays a finger on my sister, it's your job to destroy them for me."
-
"Is that even your sister, Shin," I thought out loud.

A/N: I know that the update schedule has been pretty wonky but I'm trying my best to get back to normal. Also Mako seems so OOC in this and it's driving me crazyyyy
