Riju's back aches as she jumps off the horse she had been travelling with all the way from Gerudo town. She pulls her coat closer to her small body and the royal guards that had been standing and guarding the great castle gates walk over to her. "Gerudo chief Riju? What are you doing here?" A ginger guard asks as his companions takes her horse to lead the tired steed into the stable to rest. "I'm hear to speak to the princess, about... Things I can't talk about with you." Riju replies as the guard nods understandingly. "Very well, let me lead you to the princess's room" he says. "You're a nice guy" Riju smiles and gives the guard a playful punch in the shoulder, coming off rougher than intended as the guard huffs by the impact. "A-.. Alright... F-follow me, chief." he says as he leads Riju into the castle.
After what felt like an eternity and walking through similar-looking halls for ages they reach Zelda's room. "She's in here, chief Riju" the guard says as he stops by the door. "Thank you, I'll take it from here" Riju says as she gives the door three small knocks. She manages to hear the muffled "come in" from the other side of the door and she swiftly opens the door and walks in. There, on the bed in front of her, sat Zelda with a book in her lap. Zelda glances up at Riju and her face lights up when she sees her, "Riju!" she exclaims happily. "I'm she." Riju giggles as she walks over to her friend, sitting down next to her. "What brought you here? You've travelled such a long way you must have a good reason.." Zelda asks as she puts her book aside on the bedside table.
"I do, actually." Riju said, looking at Zelda with a troubled expression. "So.. You know how thunderblight Ganon has taken over our divine beast? Well... I gathered my troops some days ago, this time stronger than ever, to defeat the scumbag once and for all but... When we managed to enter vah Naboris Thunderblight Ganon was.. Gone.". Zelda looked at Riju in shock, "Gone..?" she repeated back at Riju. "Gone. So was all the malice, I just had to go in and reactivate it." Riju said, "but that wasn't even the most incredible part..". Zelda inches closed in anticipation for Riju to continue.
"When I turned around to return home I got met by noone other than the champion Urbosa herself. She-... She told me to not relax just because Thunderblight Ganon had vanished form our divine beast and.. And for me to carry her legendary ability from now on.." Riju continued, sending a flabbergastered look over Zelda's face. "U-... Urbosa's fury?" Zelda stutters out and Riju nods. "She told us that the other champions were on their way to give their powers to someone in the living generation that.. Deserved it. She told me that the most important thing for us to do now is to gather the rest of the bearers of the ancient champion's magic and.. And to help Link defeat Ganon. Just like 100 years ago." Riju finished and Zelda got a bitter look on her face. "... We failed 100 years ago.. Who says we won't fail this time?" Zelda murmurs with an empty tone. Riju sighs as she lays her arm around Zelda "Come on now, Zelda.. It have been ages, I bet you've learnt alot during those years. You were able to keep yourself alive for this long while the world waited for Link to come back to life. If we.. If we all work together plus the power of the divine beasts and Link.. We will make it." Riju speaks reassuringly, smiling when Zelda's shoulder get less tense.
The two friends enjoyed a peaceful moment together, just holding eachother and enjoying the silence. That is until a frantic knock from the door echos through the silent bedroom. Zelda jumps up from her bed together with Riju, both of them staring at the door. "C-come in!" Zelda calls out and the door opens to reveal a panting guard. "I-... I've ran through the entire castle to-.. T-to tell you.. To tell you that..." The guard pants out, leaning against the doorframe. Zelda sighs as she walks up to him "Take a breath and tell me once you've calmed down." She says in a soft tone and the guard nods. In a minute or two of the guard regaining his breath he continues "J-... Just before L-Link returned but... He've brought a Zora with him. L-Link seems to be injuried, too.. H-he told us to get you immediately before taking a-action so they're down right outside the castle gates w-waiting for your... Your arrival." The guard says and Zelda's eyes widens almost up to twice their size.
Riju walks up to her. "Well what are we waiting for?" she asks. Zelda sighs, her voice full of dissapointment.
"Let's go meet our hero."
