Chapter 20

Nick's POV

Don't people realize that mornings are meant for sleeping? I got woken up from my deep sleep thanks to Joe.

"What do you want? I was enjoying my sleep," I yawned into my phone.

"You have to record that song in the studio," he said eagerly.

"What song?" I asked laying my head on my pillow.

"The song you wrote with Shannon last night."

"What are you talking about? We didn't write a song."

"Oh my God have you been in a coma this whole time?" I sighed deeply into the phone.

"That was a little uncalled for don't ya think?"

"Yeah, I'm sorry about that. I'm talking about the tweets on twitter. Did you not know you were writing a song?"

"I had no idea, I was just responding to what she said. I listened to my heart and wrote from it."

"Well what is your heart telling you now?

"That I need more sleep," I groaned.

"Stop that and get your ass to the studio! I'll let Shannon know what's happening. I'm sure she'll be okay with it." He hung up the phone after that. I sighed as I stared at the ceiling. What is Joe getting me into?

Shay's POV

"No I'm not okay with that! I haven't seen Nick in years and I'll like to keep it that way."

"But you have no idea how great this would be! For the both of you! Why won't you come see him?" Joe asked biting into his chicken sandwich.

"Because, I'm happy where I am right now. I don't want old feelings coming to the surface. It'll ruin the great relationship I'm currently in."
He rolled his eyes at me.

"Oh come on, you and Nick are meant for each other and you know it."

"Even if that might be true. I need to stop hurting myself by being with him. I'm truly upset that you asked him before coming to me. That's my song."

"That's your's and Nick's song. You don't have to be in the same studio. Nick could record his down in LA. I'll just blend your voices together. They need to hear your guy's story."

"Alright fine Joe, but you know Karma's a bitch. So you better watch your back." He laughed as he took another bite.

Nick's POV

It's been soon long since I've been here that I forgot what it looked liked. I entered the booth and ran my finger along the microphone. The door then opened and Phil walked out.

"My man Nick Jonas! How ya doing bud? The lyrics are right there in front of the mic. I'll cue you when you're on." I laughed to myself as I made my way back to the mic. I placed the headphones on then started when he cued me.

"That sounded great! You're going to sound even greater when you do it live on the radio with her!"

Wait, what is he talking about. Radio with her? As in we're in the same room together? Sharing the same space and breathing the same air?
"You better head to New York. The interview is going to start soon."

Shannon's POV

Joe and I sat in the studio with Seacrest waiting to be on the air.

"Are you guys ready?" He asked placing his headphones on. We both nodded our heads.
"Nick will be a little late so we'll start without him."

Wait now what? Who said anything about Nick being here? I glared at Joe as I pinched his leg.

"Uh ow!"he cried out.

Ryan- Hello everyone! I hope all is doing well. In here with me is the lovely Shannon Werle and a very...uncomfortable looking Joe. Joe is everything alright over there? Is she beating you up?

Shan- I'll advise him to not answer that. -I glared at him again-

Ryan-...Okay moving right along then. So this song with Nick. How did that come about? I saw the tweets, but never thought to put you two together.

Shan- I guess it needed to happen. As writers we write from our hearts. I listened to mine, as he probably did the same.

Ryan- Are you excited to see him after so many years?

Shan- I'm more in shock really. It kind of just came out of nowhere and hit me in the face. - I glared again at Joe as he lowered himself on his seat-

Ryan- I see you keep looking at Joe. Has he done something?

Joe- You know I've always been her go to punching bag.

Nick suddenly walked through the door. I quickly looked away as Ryan continued.

Ryan- Well looks like we'll be taking a little break. Up next is Shannon and Nick's acoustic performance. So stay tuned!

Nick made his way over and shook Ryan's hand.

"Hey man it's good to see you! How've you been?"

"I've been good. You know working out a little bit. Getting ready for this new year."

"That's great and you look great. I can't wait to hear your guy's song." Nick smiled as I looked at him through the corner of my eye. What is he doing here? I think I've made it clear that I didn't want to see him. But butterflies grew as he grinned laughing with Joe. Crap, no go away. These feeling are not welcomed. Go back and stay where I left them. But it was already to late. They found it's home right where I left them three Years ago.
