Chapter 39

Adriana's POV:

"So you do know where we live?" I hear Tyler say

"Oh yeah, sorry I'll be out of your hair soon." I say

"You're leaving again? The little feud is over what are you gonna do now?"

"I'll be back soon I just have to deal with some traitors."

"Can't you find anyone else to do that? We've been married for barely 2 months and we haven't spent time together since our honeymoon."

"That's because you didn't have my back. Anyways my flight leaves tomorrow but maybe we can make up for lost times before then."

"No Tommy you can't just expect me to fuck you then watch you leave."

He's right and I didn't even want to have sex considering what happened but I just want him not mad at him

"I have to do this and then I'll be back here working from home."

"Fine go I have stuff to deal with anyways." he went upstairs to his office

Once I finished packing I drove to a hotel near by

Two month later

I've taken care of every target except for one. He's eating at a cafe right now in France. The money to betray us must have been pretty fucking good.

I'm in a church a couple blocks away because it's the only building high enough and within distance of the cafe. I have my sniper locked onto my final target but I don't take the shot.

I see a cute little Asian child being forcibly dragged into a van. She kicking and I'm assuming screaming. I take a deep breath and shoot the one holding her. The other two look around for a shooter and I take my second shot. One left and he cowardly attempts to use her as cover. That doesn't work very well because he falls lifeless after my third shot. I shoot the driver and the tires of the van

I keep a good eye on her until she runs into the arms of a woman. I look for my target but he's long gone. This mission has taken longer than expected and it's taking a huge toll on me. I miss Tyler and I keep having nightmares about him leaving and losing my baby. I've been drinking a lot more, I got into street fighting and racing which has definitely prolonged my trip.

I'm grabbed and hooded by some men. Judging by the language they're Japanese. I don't struggle because I'd like to see where this goes. After a long car ride I'm unmasked

I see a middle aged man, a woman, a younger guy, and that little girl I save

"Kore wa shūtingugēmu ni naru koto wa dekimasen"

This can't be the shooter

"Demo watashi wa sō yo" I respond

But I am

"You speak Japanese?" he asks

"Yeah my aunt taught me Korean and Japanese." I smiled thinking of Haruhi

"Who are you?" he asked

"I'm Adriana Knight."

"As in the wife of our enemy. Why save my daughter?"

"Would you rather I'd let them take ?" I asked

"Of course not but why would the American's wife care?" the other guy asked

"I saw her being taken and if it was my family I'd want someone else to intervene. Now if we're done here my target is getting away."

"He sends his wife to handle stuff like this." the guy scoffed

"I'm not doing it for Tyler my target messed with my mafia and betrayed my family. I'm doing this personally to show people the dangers of fucking with the Russian mafia."

"So the rumors are true. You really are the leader of the Russian mafia." I nodded

"Well seeing as you save my daughter from being kidnapped it's only fitting we express our gratitude."

"That's unnecessary I'd do it again if I had to." I smiled

"Nonsense you saved my babygirl we're forever in your debt." the women spoke

"Seriously it's fine but could I get your names?"

"I am Ronin, this is my wife Hideyo, my son and heir Taiyo, and my daughter Rini." I tensed at his name

"So what's the Yakuza doing in France?" I asked

"So you figure us out. We're here on vacation. Hideyo insists we have yearly family vacations and one of our enemies caught wind and tried to steal bunny." I nodded in understanding

"So now that you know who I am are you sure there's nothing you want?" Taiyo asked

"The only thing I'd want is peace with Japan. You know us Russians don't always get along with you." I chuckled nervously

Alek's great grandfather killed theirs so there's been tension ever since

"Consider it done and I'll do you one better. In two months time we will hold a ball there we will announce our new found partnership. From now til then we will iron out the details, but know I will only do business with you. I can't undo what your family did but I see you're different. Don't make me regret my decision child." he said coldly

"Of course."

"Lastly we will have nothing to do your allies. We don't care for the Americans, English, French, or Irish."

"That's fine with me you're my allies not theirs."

It'll be nice to have allies who won't stand neutral in future conflicts

"Good if you give me the name of your traitor I will personally have him hunted down and tortured."

"You don't have to."

"You should be with your husband and it's our fault you lost your target. If it makes you feel better once we catch him we'll call you so you can fly into Japan."

"Only if it's not too much trouble."

"Don't worry little Russian."

"Thank you I should head home I'm behind on quite a bit of work." I bowed my head in respect

12 hours later

I just landed and it's really late. I have the driver take me home and I drag my feet to the door. I feel dizzy, tired and I need water. I rush to the kitchen and down a tall glass of water.

I tense when I feel a gun against my temple

"Shit Adriana I thought you were an intruder." he lowered his gun

"Sorry I was just really thirsty." I say out of breath

"Are you okay you don't look so good."

"Yeah it's just been a long trip."

"I think you should see a doctor." he says concerned

"I'm fine I just need re-" I'm consumed by darkness before I can finish my sentence
