Chapter 48

Adriana's POV

I open my eyes and find I'm in my room at Alek's place. When did I get here? Maybe Yuri brought me up. I go to the bathroom and shower cause I feel gross and smell like weed

"Fuck." I hiss as I remember the events of last night

I'm careful not to make noise and pray I can make it out the front door without being noticed.

I tiptoe down the stairs that thankfully don't creek. I'm almost to the door when I hear a weak roar

"Osorin you asshole." I whisper

Suddenly I feel my ear being yanked

"Ow ow ow please let go!" I cry as Gramps drags me to the kitchen by my ear

"Sit."

"Yes sir." I obeyed

"What were you thinking last night?" Vladilen asked

"I wasn't sir. I was stressed and made an impulsive decision. I don't consume drugs, heck I rarely ever drink I just heard it relaxes a person, so I gave it a try. Please forgive me, I've learned my lesson." I ask

"We heard about your college days." they revealed

I thought Gramps and uncle Vladilen didn't know of my partying.

*smack*

"Ow what was that for?" I groaned and held the back of my head

"Do you have to ask?" Gramps asked

"What do you mean?"

"You're really gonna play dumb? We just told you we know. You lied right to our face and didn't give a shit." Gramps yelled

"Okay I get the anger but that's the past. I don't do that anymore, I swear."

"We found you high off your ass yesterday."

If it wasn't for the AC I'd be sweating bullets

"Yuri invited me to smoke and I had a long day. I'm a legal adult."

"You're still in the interviewing stage of the company. You can only fail a drug test if you have a medical marijuana card."

"You think I'm gonna get hired after calling your company out for stealing applicant's research?"

"Yes, if they want to be able to use your research they'll have to hire you."

"Then a drug test should be out of the question if your hiring team doesn't wanna get sued. You can just hire me and if anyone tries to scream nepotism we can say it was the terms of my apology." I reasoned

"That could work, I suppose."

"So no drug test?"

"We drug test our staff." He shakes his head

"I'll chug cranberry juice and stay sober until then."

"I guess that settles it." Dad scoffed

"So we're gonna ignore her drug abuse." Gramps ask

"I don't abuse drugs. I just smoke recreationally."

"That's what addicts say." He sounded really concerned

"She's not an addict dad. She goes a long time without smoking or drinking." Dad defended me

"I don't need her wasting her intelligence like Yuri."

He hates smoking because of Yuri

"I understand."

"Since you're so stressed we'll give you time off until you get hired by Al's company. You can spend time with you husband or pick up a hobby. That means absolutely no work so inform the Japanese."

"What, but I still have things left to complete." they just shrugged

"Too bad, should've thought of that before. Plus you need to take a break you're still young and I realize we've been overloading you. When the time comes for you to take over I trust you'll do fine. Of course no illegal activity. Lastly I don't want to hear that you're drinking or doing drugs."

"This isn't a punishment Aleksandr, its a reward"

"She's my kid and I'm going to prioritize her health if you have a problem too bad." dad shrugged

"Excuse me?" they said at the same time

"It's my mafia, my business, my child."

"She's my granddaughter who I'm concerned for."

"Adriana won't get hooked on anything. If she does she'll seek help."

"Fine." He huffed

"I bought popsicles yesterday if you wanna split one."

"I can't stay mad at you." He smiled

"And you say I coddle her." Dad said amused

"I balance it with discipline."

"That's why he's my bestie! I love balance." I added 

"No you don't! You're an agent of chaos!"

"Don't yell at her before I use my belt on you." Gramps threatened him and I snickered
