"So you liked the idea of being kidnapped by a man you knew was involved in the cartel all because of your parents' ways?" The journalist stared straight at Estella bewildered on why any person would plan their kidnapping.
"Yes I did. Mam I don't think you understand my parents wanted me to marry an abusive man and move to a completely different country abandoning everything I know. I wasn't going to let that happen and I knew about Rafa and his ways but to me it was better than being married to Jackson." Estella explained with a cigarette in her hands. The journalist was still not certain what to think but nodded her head.
"So will you explain the kidnapping that you and your sister set up?"
"That's why I'm here." Estella grinned.
Decades Before
"¿Estás drogada? ¡No puedes hacer eso!" Ana whispered yelled. Estella was explaining her wild and risky plan to Ana. It was already organized and if all goes well nothing bad would come out of this.
"No, no estoy drogada. Voy a hacer esto esta noche." Estella clarified smiling at herself in the mirror. Ana shook her head and stood up snatching away the red lipstick from Estella.
"You cannot get involved with a man like that. I thought you were joking at the wedding not really being literal." Ana shouted the irritation was clear on Estella's face. She knew it wasn't the easiest thing to understand, but she couldn't take another day with Jackson or living this dreary life.
"Ana. I love you but now you're being irrational. I can't do another day with Jackson learning how to speak English. I can't move away from my home to an entirely different life. And I'm not going to get involved in the business not even Sofia either. She's just seeing Rafa not becoming his cartel wife or something like that. I'm not ever doing that either so please calm down and try to understand where I'm coming from." Estella smiled holding Ana's hands. Ana sighed and looked away and nodded her head. She wanted to be supportive of her best friend regardless of how absurd this kidnapping plan was.
