The weekend had flown by. I spent it mostly studying and preparing for the program which started this Monday. Seeing as it started at 3 and went until 5, Mr. Kennedy had granted me the permission to leave work early for this purpose. It was twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays.

I was a ball of nerves. Anticipating the presentations and especially him.

On Saturday I had emailed Mr Kennedy if he'd think it'd be easier to send over the application electronically, and he agreed. This is the reason I'm able to start the program this Monday instead of waiting until next week.

As I was getting ready for work I received a text from Tatum,

Tatum: GIRL!! Congrats on the promotion!! Well almost promotion, let's celebrate tonight ;)

Me: Haha thank you!! I don't know about tonight, it's Monday...

Tatum: ok GRANDMA. Just come. Not taking no for an answer.

Me: Ok fine... I'll call you later.

Tatum: I KNEW IT, yes babes call me later.

Ok so maybe telling Tatum about the almost promotion was a mistake seeing her reaction. I told her out of pure excitement just yesterday, and tried to emphasize the fact it was a promotion only if I completed this program. Leaving out the important detail of mr someone being the "teacher." Not that she would know.

It ate away at me. I wanted to be able to tell my best friend about all this, but I just couldn't. At least not right now, not when I don't have the upper hand... or any hand for that matter. When I had any sort of control, I might even consider it.

I looked up from my desk, snapping my focus back to the present and spotted my boss.

"I wish you luck tonight Ms Rhodes, I hope you find it informative," he gave a gentle smile and I returned it.

"Thank you sir, I will do my best." Smiling, I turned back to my computer as he stepped away to his office.

The clock ticked by agonizingly slow. I was a bundle of nerves, waiting for it to finally be time to leave.

My eyes scanned the clock which read 2:15 and I immediately started with gathering my things. I made sure to shut everything down and keep things organized for the next day. Waving goodbye to my coworkers, I was out the door in 5 minutes.

My nerves started to rise and it was weighing in on me who I was about to see. Brown Industries was a 10 minute cab ride away, giving me 30 minutes of time to prepare myself. I hailed the next cab I could manage and climbed in the back seat.

"Where to miss?"Came the voice of the taxi driver. "Brown Industries," I replied and we were on our way. Noting he didn't need the exact address because of its well known reputation.

I watched as the city skyscrapers flew by through the window. I wondered what I'd be like to live in a penthouse on the top of one of them. The beautiful floor to ceiling windows with a to die for view. An apartment with several different rooms, all nearly too big for anyone, but beautiful nonetheless.

The taxi came to a stop in front of the building. My eyes trailed up it's height, the top disappearing in the low flying clouds. A large Brown Industries logo above the top tall front doors. It was made of all glass and looked as if designed by the world's most renowned architect.

Shivering at the pure intimidation from just his building, I slid out the taxi door after handing the driver the money. Once outside I stood in front of the main enternece. My eyes still running over the luxurious property, not being able to fully grasp the design and its vastness. I trained my eyes to the doors, tall sturdy doors with two large handles. The flood of people coming in and out is quite intimidating. All dressed to impress.
