THIRD PERSON'S POV CONTINUED

It had been about two weeks since the night that was undoubtedly the worst night of Amadea's life.

She was so sure that her infidelity caused her to lose her baby and get the dreadful disease.

Mallam Riku was furious when he got home. He had decided to send her back to her parents us and request for the money he paid them.

He was basically returning a defective product and asking for a refund or that was at least how Amadea saw it.

She didn't even want to think about her parents' reaction.

She was so ashamed. She had brought disgrace to her family and worse, she had gotten the disease. Now no one would want to marry her again.

The worst part was that she hadn't heard from Hume. It was like she'd ceased to exist to the older woman.
She had thought that even if the whole world deserted her, Hume would always be there but she was proven wrong.

She had even gone to Hume's house after she had regained some of her strength, where Hume proceeded to tell her that she smelled and that she had lost the right to come into her house.

Hume didn't want to be associated with someone that was undoubtedly hated by her husband. She may not love the old man but she needs his favour to remain in his home living lavishly. Amadea finally understood the saying 'A friend in need is a friend indeed.'

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

Amadea shivered and brought her coat closer to her body. The weather was quite chilly even though it was around 2 in the afternoon.

She was on her way to her parents' house.
Mallam Riku had gone through with his threat.
She was being escorted by one of Mallam Riku's numerous servants and no, this wasn't to ensure her safety, it was to make sure she didn't loiter around the Mallam's house then try to sneak in when she thought no one was looking.

She shivered again and this time not from the cold.
She couldn't help but wonder how her parents would react.....
She hadn't seen her parents since the day she was quite literally, sold to Mallam Riku.

Her heart began to race as soon as she saw the house she spent the first thirteen years of her life in.

Dea was sure her father would be livid while her mother would be disappointed. She'd shake her head and look at her condescendingly like she must have offended the gods to be given a daughter like her.

She suddenly felt like she had to pee and before she could stop herself, urine flowed down her legs. From the side of her eye, she could see the servant Mena give her a disgusted look and step away from her trying to block his nostrils.

She looked down ashamed.

If only she hadn't listened to Hume or better still, if only she hadn't killed her baby.
Even with the disease, Mallam wouldn't have sent her away from the house if she'd just been a good mother and had at least successfully given her child life.

As soon as they arrived at her parents' house, Mena gave her another disgusted look and walked away.

She took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

As she knocked, she couldn't help but notice that the house had been repainted. She knew that the whole house had probably been renovated with the money Mallam paid her parents for her.

After waiting for about five minutes, the door opened and she looked up to see the disgusted face of her mother who immediately slapped her.

" One thing Amadea. We asked you to do just one thing for this family and you couldn't even do that. You are such a disgrace. I curse the day I birthed you. It would have been better for me to be barren." Aldae said with so much hatred that Amadea stumbled.
She couldn't believe what she was hearing .

Aren't mothers supposed to love their children no matter what?

Just then she heard her father call out
"What's going on, woman? Can't you see I'm trying to sleep? Who's at the door?"

Amadea heard him before she saw him.

" Oh! It's the whore. What are you doing here? I thought I made myself clear when I said I never wanted to see you here again.
Leave this house now.
There's no place for you here. Go to the man or men you whored yourself to or better still go back to your husband's house to beg him, you cursed child.
You've done nothing but bring pain to your mother and I since you were born and now you've managed to stop her means of livelihood.
Now we have to refund the money Mallam paid for you."

Tears formed in Dea's eyes and rolled down her face.

"Mum,Dad. I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry. Please forgive me. After all I'm still your daughter. I'm sorry."

"Daughter? You're no longer my daughter. You are dead to me." Her father said and went into the house, her mother following behind without another glance at her.

Dea didn't know what to do, she had no where to go, no one to turn to. Everyone in her life had abandoned her.

She was truly alone.
