I had to wait for Liam for almost thirty minutes in the lobby with Sarah, Kara, and Bre. We entertained ourselves but it still sucked. At that moment I realized I could never be one of those people who you could leave at home, go on tour, and come back with them in the same place as you left them. I would forever be trying to move forward. Liam finally came in from the pouring rain nearly soaked but still smiling. He went to get a change of clothes and told me to put on waterproof clothing because we were going on a walk. We rode up in the elevator together leaving Sarah, Bre, and Kara in the lobby.

“did you like the show?” he asked me leaning up against the marble wall

“yeah, I thought the fans tonight had a lot of good signs” I told him smiling

“I couldn’t really see many but the ones I saw were funny” he grinned with me

The elevator dinged and I got off with a little wave. I walked to my room quickly pulling out my waterproof combat boots tucking my skinny jeans into them. I had to hunt through my suitcase to find my umbrella and rain coat but I found them and walked out of my room. I wasn’t sure what floor Liam was on so I just went back down to the lobby. I had a minor battle with Sarah with my umbrella and her ninja hands. Liam came out of the elevator leading me to the back door and out of the hotel. He had on loose black jeans, a grey t-shirt that had some sort of saying written on it, with a rain coat and umbrella. The sidewalks were nearly flooded but not too bad yet. Water rushed alongside us though and in the streets.  I had allowed him to hold my hand even though I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. His hand was warm and soft in mine swinging slightly when we walked. With the other hand I held my umbrella we walked along stopping occasionally to look into a store window. We approached a little park and walked through it having to go around the small pond in the center. We walked up on the curved bridge looking down at the black water that reflected the sky. Something white fell to my right and my head snapped over to see what it was. On closer inspection I realized it was hail

“maybe we should-“ I was cut off by the heavy down pour of hail

The umbrella mostly protected us but it wasn’t very pleasant. I wanted to at least be covered by a solid structure I searched around finally finding a red telephone booth and pulled Liam to it. I pushed him in and followed behind him closing the door tightly. We had to do a little shuffle around to get comfortable and wait for the hail to stop.

“This is cozy” Liam commented looking around

“Shut your face” I laughed playing with the telephone

He looked out of the little square windows for a while watching the hail pour down

“I’m going to go catch one!” he announced and squeezed past me

I watched as he opened the door and closed it quickly leaving me inside of the little red box. I watched him run around with his hands cupped he lifted them high and waited for one little piece of hail to fall into them while he got pelted. He stood like that a long time before one finally fell into his hands. He rushed back opening and closing the door quickly. I had to push myself into the wall to make room for him but he showed me his catch. It was just a little piece of ice that was perfectly rounded he smiled proudly at it before tossing it back out into the storm

“You’re just going to let it get away!” I gasped after all of his efforts it seemed like a lost

“Yeah there are a million out there I could just go get another one” he shrugged peering out of the windows

“But you made a special connection with that one” I argued ignoring the symbolism in his statement I wasn’t sure if he meant for that to be there or if he was just talking about a meaningless piece of hail in a storm
