Chapter 10

I woke up in the nurse's room.

I heard Jack's voice.

I tried to faint again.

No luck.

I kept my eyes closed though, and strained my ears to hear the conversation.

"...wasn't my fault! Sh..she fell over!"

"Jack, those are physical marks. Either you punched her multiple times, or someone else did it."

There was a pause.

"I.. I didn't!"

I risked a glance towards the direction of the voices. Jack was arguing with the nurse, who didn't look very convinced.

I coughed accidently, and both turned to look at me.

Damn.

"Elsa, are you okay?" The nurse hurried over.

I nodded, eyes fixed on Jack. He was looking incredibly guilty, but I could make out the hint of sadness in his eyes.

"Elsa, how did you faint?" The nurse questioned. I glanced at Jack for the last time. My mind and heart immediately started arguing.

Elsa, you have to tell the truth.

He didn't mean to, Elsa!

Of course he did! He blamed it on you and punched and kicked you multiple times!
