Lexa's POV

"Lexa," someone shakes my shoulder softy. I open my eyes and see Abby standing above me. I'm not sure how long I was out.

"Is Clarke ok?" I ask.

"Yeah, we just got out of surgery," my eyes widen and I leap to my feet.

"Can I see her?"

"Yes of course follow me," she starts walking off towards one the rooms. "We got the bullet out and fixed the damaged...she's asleep now but we aren't sure when she'll wake up." We come to a stop out side her room, I hug Abby tightly and she's hugs me back.

"Thank you," I choke out.

"Don't thank me, it's my job and she's my daughter. Now go see your girl," she says opening the door. I walked in and see Clarke lying there, eyes closed. The sheet were covered perfectly over her, not a single crease was showing. I pulled a chair up next to her and placed my hand in her.

"Hey baby, I'm right here..." my eyes fill with tears. "I shouldn't have left you, I should've demanded we stayed together..." tears were now streaming down my face. "May... maybe this wouldn't have happened... maybe I'd be laying here instead, then you be sitting here and I don't know if I could handle either one. But maybes don't matter anymore, I'm never going to leave you again. I don't care that I've only know you three weeks. I feel like I've know you my entire life, you are my soulmate the one I've been searching for my entire life. I promise, that I will marry you one day. I promise too always protect you, too always love you and our future kids. No matter what happens I'll always be with you and only you." I place a kiss on here forehead and wipe the tears of my face. Then it all came back to me, the night my parents were shot. The night I got them killed, the night that I wasn't going to let happen to Clarke.

{initiate flashback sequence}

It was a nice summer evening in July. We were going out to celebrate my 8th birthday. My parents saved up money all year so we could do this, they didn't want me to know about that part. I was the happiest little kid even with our money issues, they made sure of that.

"Lexa are you ready!" My mom called from downstairs.

"Yeah I'll be down in a second," I shouted, finishing the last button on my shirt. I was different from all the other girls, I didn't like dresses or dolls. My parents knew that from the start and made sure I dressed and played with things I loved. When I said a girl was pretty instead of a guy, they told me no matter who I liked they would love me anyway. I ran down the stairs and jump in my dads arms and he spins us around.

"Hey little one, are you ready?" He asked, setting me back on the ground.

"Yup! We're are we going?"

"That's a surprise kiddo," I slip my hand into his as we walk out to the car.

"Mommy, will you tell me?" I beg as she climbs into the passenger seat.

"Sorry lex, daddy already told you it's a surprise," I pretend to pout but my dad turn around and makes goofy faces at me and I can't help but laugh.

"Since your the birthday girl you get to pick the music," my face lights up.

"Queen!" I shout. They already knew I was going to pick it, it's been my favorite music to listen to since I was an infant. My mom turns to the Queen station and sing along to every song.

"Alright you have to put this on," my dad hand me a blindfold as we get closer to the location. I nod and tie it behind my head anxiously waiting.

"Alright you can take it off," my mom says. I rip it off and look at the bright lights In front  of me. I spotted the big Ferris wheel and smell of carnival food wafts into my nose.

"You brought me to the carnival!"

"Yeah kiddo, what do you think?" My dad asks getting out of the car.

"I love it," I do the same and run to give them both a hug. "Thank you guys."

"Only the best for you." He hold my hand and we start walking towards the entrance.
A man shoved us back, right where no one could see and grabbed me.

"Give me all your money or the child dies," he snarls, aiming the gun at my head.

"Daddy," I cry not knowing what to do.

"It's ok sweetie, just stay right there." He tries to reassure me while pulling out his wallet.

"I don't want to daddy," I rip my out of the mans arms and run to him. Before I get to him I hear to shots fire. I look back and see my mom and dad bleeding out on the ground.

"daddy! Mommy! Wake up!" I try to wake them, but they don't.

"Help! Somebody help me!" A group of people run over to me and call the police. Sirens were starting to be heard in the distance.  Officers surround the group and move everyone back. I stayed next my dad and mom holding on to them as long as I could.

"Hey sweetie, what happened?" A female officer comes and asks me.

"Some... someone tried to... to take my daddy's money.... he was holding me with a gun... to my he... head. All I wanted was ... daddy so I ran to h...him and he shot them..." I manage to sob out.

"Hey why don't you come with me?" She says also offering a hand out to me. I nod my head and grab onto her hand. "Do you wanna go get some ice cream?" I nod, my thoughts and feeling all over the place. The only thing I knew is I just lost the two most important people in my life.
