"Stolen Wealth"

From our childhood, we are taught that stealing is bad. That it is a sin. Something you shouldn't do.

I am also a thief. I stole something from someone who meant a lot to me. I stole my best friend's wealth.

I met my best friend on the first day of kindergarten. She was the only one who talked to me. I was labelled as 'the freak' from the very first day just because I liked insects and other things which were considered weird.

She announced that she is going to be my friend forever. And I guess it was true.

She was a talented girl. Good in studies and sports. The type of girl who can be the lead in a movie or novel. Boys loved her, girls envied her, parents adored her.

She liked singing though. It was her dream. She also wrote her own songs. She sang the songs she wrote herself and she was damn well good at it.

When we were in high school, she decided to post her songs on YouTube but as she was very shy, she decided to post them under my name. She made an account with my email and started her channel.

It didn't take a lot of time for her to get famous. She received a lot of love, comments, likes on her videos.

One day she decided that she is going to use her name now, that she is going to show everyone that she is the one who is talented. That she is doing all these things and I guess that made me realise that I am not the one who is famous, she is. I am not the one who is going to be successful, she is going to be.

The next day, I called her to the little forest just outside the town. We used to hang out there all the time, so it wasn't a big deal. She didn't think much about it and why would she when her best friend calls her.

Do you think about it when your best friend calls you to hang out? You go there immediately without any questions. And she did the same.

I guess you could say that it was the  biggest mistake of her life. When she reached there she didn't question anything. We talked for a while, laughed about things, just the usual stuff best friends do. But then the sun started to set, I pulled out the knife from my bag.

She asked me, "Why do you have a knife? Are you going to kill me?" She  laughed.

I replied "Yes."

"You have a really bad sense of humour, you know that right?" She laughed again. I stalked towards her. Her face contured to that of a fearful one.

"What are you doing? It's not funny anymore!" She shouted but I wasn't joking about it.

I still remember that moment. I plunged the knife deep into her heart and she died right there and then. I left her body there.

Next day, it was on the news. The body of a 16 year old girl was found  in the woods. Everyone was crying. I was crying too ofcourse why wouldn't I? She was my best friend after all.

I took the credits for the songs. I became successful. That was the wealth I stole from my best friend.

Trust me, I don't regret it one bit. Why would I? I am rich and successful. As I said that was the best decision of my life and will always be. I still love her. Why wouldn't I? She was my best friend after all.
