A Neighbour Harbouring A Fugitive

Hearing a crash I woke up startled. I live alone so I was terrified. I quietly sneaked inside the kitchen. I saw the back door open. I am sure I locked it when going to sleep. I saw the vase I keep in the kitchen at the floor in pieces.

I turned on the lights. I screamed when I felt a hand on my shoulder.

He turned me around and placed a hand on my mouth. I looked at him wide eyed. He shushed me. I nodded. He removed his hand.

"What are you doing here?" I asked to Alex. My neighbour's nephew who recently came to visit him.

"Don't shout. Let me explain." He said. We sat down in the living room.

"My name's not Alex nor am I Mr. Chris's nephew. I am Damon. I am a secret agent and so was Chris." He explained.

"Why should I believe you and why are you here?" I asked.

He passed me his identity card. "I found out something about someone I shouldn't have and now I am a fugitive. Chris was hiding me but somehow they found out about it. They are coming tomorrow to take me. I can't go anywhere as they have eyes everywhere. So I came here." He explained. "Also sorry about the vase. It was an accident." He explained guiltily.

"Come on, it was my favourite." I said jokingly. As if that's important right now. "So you are going to hide here?" I asked. "What makes you think that they won't check the neighbours' houses?" I asked skeptical with his plan.

"Because you won't let them." He said smirking.

"How?" I asked.

"We will act as if no one's home. And as you barely go out there is no record of you in the cameras." He said.

"Fine, I will help you but what will I get out of this?" I asked.

"Whatever you want." He said winking.
