Sorrow

This shattered concrete beneath my feet,
My footsteps echo throughout the street.

The silence of this town sends shivers down my spine,
Not one soul, not one word but it's probably fine.

The farther I carry on it's becoming more eerie,
A blood curdling snarl and my eyes become teary.

My body is stiff and I can no longer see my breath,
Could this be my mind or is this sudden death?

The beast appears and it is a gruesome sight,
It's skin looks melted and it glows despite the night.

It's calling my name in a whisper like my mother,
However it's not her but one that wants me to suffer.

It is called 'Sorrow' the name may ring a bell,
I fear it's a demon from my head, not one from hell.

I am not prepared for the battle that awaits me,
So instead of raising my fists, I will take a knee.

I am your slave, I do as you command.
This definitely was not what I had planned.

Quickly, snuff me out and end my pain.
Take my ankles and wrist and reclamp the chain.

I really thought that I managed to win this.
Ignorance is bliss.
