-Your Highness, your brother wants to talk to you- repeats for the millionth time a lady of the court who knocks on the door of the princess' rooms. Kayla lets her words slip because she is too busy watching the elf standing in front of her.

-Can we talk? - The blond asks.

The lady knocks again.

-Tell him I don't have time now- he says by raising his voice and approaching the door, then he turns to Legolas. -Tell me

-Why have you avoided me in the last few days? - asks the elf and observes the girl sitting on the bed.

-I needed to think... you know I realized I ran a little too fast... I'm sorry- sighs Kayla and looks out the window. -I was angry because I can never do anything the way I want to...-

-You can't run away and hope it all works out on your own- says the blond. -I swear that if the situation were different I would have taken you away already, but your family loves you if you disappeared they would be destroyed and you would not want it-

They spend a few minutes of silence and Legolas has a smile on his face. -Since when are you so quiet? - sits next to her and passes his fingers on the back of her hand.

-Yesterday a crow arrived with a message from my father... is coming back- whispers.

-And aren't you happy? -

-Yes, I am happy! He's okay, he's alive and he's coming back, but as soon as Eldarion gets here, he's gonna tell him and my mom everything... I know how he is and he's not gonna wait for us to come forward- he's gonna look at him. -I was a fool to avoid you in the last few days, we could have spent some time together and be fine...-

-We'll still have time to be together-

-I'm afraid, not to...-

-Don't be so pessimistic, sometimes even things that seem impossible to us can come true and your father is one of the most amazing people I know- he smiles at her. -You will see that it will surprise you. -

-Do you think he won't get angry? - he asks hopefully looking into the elf's eyes.

-Oh yes he will be angry, but I think he will leave you free to choose-

-Aren't you afraid otherwise? - asks the girl looking even for a sign of uncertainty in the features of her face.

-Why have moments like these taken away by fear? Let's just live them since we can't do anything now

-You're right... as always! I'm getting really tired! Always with the right word at the right time! - she jokes by throwing herself backward on the bed.

-Maybe because I'm a few years older than you- she smiles at you.

-Suppose everything goes well, say we can be together if I didn't inherit from my mother the ability of the elves not to grow old as humans... would you stay with me as well? - asks for it by giggling.

Legolas lies on top of her holding on to her arms and knees so as not to weigh them too much.

-I would stay with you, I would love you anyway, I would watch you grow old, I would watch your face fill with wrinkles and I would love you the same-

-Even if you no longer remember who you are-

-If you don't remember me anymore, I could tell you all about us, about our adventures, in our love and our children- smiles Legolas in watching her giggle.

-And would you also tell me how I'm better at archery than you are? -

-That's absolutely not true! - Legolas laughs. -You still have a lot to learn! -

-Then from tomorrow you will come back to teach me

-One more question- whispers the girl by moving her head to the side and letting the elf's lips kiss her cheek. -Will you take me to visit your kingdom? -

-If you wish, I will show you the most spectacular corners of the kingdom, I will take you to see the party for the light of the stars... it is wonderful, the whole court is festive, there are songs and dances

-Do you have a party for the stars? - He stops laughing.

-You'll regret having laughed, believe me! - he kisses her.

-Your Highness! - The lady knocks again.

-Go away I'm busy- responds the girl while the elf kisses her neck.

-It's important! An elf arrived from Bosco Atro with the news. I'm also looking for Prince Legolas, do you know where I can find him? -

-An elf from Bosco Atro? - whispers Legolas raising his head.

-I arrive! I find the prince does not worry- he answers the lady and waits for her to leave to start talking again. -Were you waiting for someone? A messenger? -

-No, nobody- gets up and the girl immediately notices the worried look on the blond's face.

-Maybe your father sent you a messenger for some principled matter- try not to worry him too much.

- My father wouldn't do it, something must have happened- he put on his freshly creased clothes and held out his hand to the princess to help her stand up. The girl accepts her and they head to the throne room.

As soon as they enter a voice brings back the smile on the girl's lips.

-Kayla! My daughter! - two arms wrap her and hold her.

-Father are you well! -

-Yes, Legolas my friend! - Aragorn breaks off from the girl and greets the friend. -I hope you took care of my family-

-Yes father, he took good care of the family- answers Eldarion before Legolas can take the floor.

-How did it go? - Kayla asks her father.

-We fought the ogres, we defeated them but it was just a battle. They are many, many more than we thought. And we do not know how far they have gone- sighs the man.

-Far beyond what you think, Your Highness- those present turn to the voice that spoke, the elf messenger.

-What do you mean? - asks Legolas to approach the comrade.

-My lord- the elf kneels and at a sign of the prince rises. -The orcs arrived at Bosco Atro, we fought but we were not prepared for such power, half the army was not in the kingdom, by order of your father the king...were accompanying elven officials to other lands for meetings...-

-Did we win the battle? -

-Unfortunately not my lord and your father... he was wounded, he is still alive but it is very serious-

-I have to go to him- the elf turns resolutely to go and get his things and leave.

-No, my lord, your father has left the order that you take his place while he is carried by the best sorcerers. The army is returning and the whole kingdom is waiting for its orders, my lord must return-
