Y/n's POV
"... Fgna!! I'm sweating bullets! What's with that intimidating caretaker!?" Grim yelped.

"I don't think he's the caretaker." I said to the cat as I picked him up.

"Hey... What was up with you back there? You seem to radiate an intimidating aura like that guy." Grim poked the side of my cheek.

"I'll explain later, Grim. We gotta get back to Ace and Deuce first." He nods. "Come on Hooty. Let's get back to the boys."

"Hoo!" Hooty hooted as he flew next to me. We soon head back to our meeting spot. Ace and Deuce just arrived like us.

"We found a basket of tongs over there!" Ace said as he held the basket. But, from the look on Deuce's face, he must've noticed something.

"... Did something happen to you three?" Deuce asked me, Grim, and Hooty.

"Ah, that's right! The chestnuts! Our tart will get smaller if we don't get a bunch." Grim said as he jumped down my shoulder. "We'll talk about our encounter with the caretaker while we work." Grim groaned.

"Up you go." I said as I pick up the cat and placed him on my shoulder once again. "Let's hurry. Trey might think we're slacking off." They nodded as we got our materials and head back into the forest.

"That's what happened." Grim and I finished explaining what happened. I'm half Grim didn't add in the 'Intimidating Aura' part.

"There is absolutely no way that was the caretaker." Ace sweat dropped as we picked a few more chestnuts to be sure.

"If I think back now that I've calmed down, that guy was wearing a yellow vest. So he must be from the banana dorm." I looked at Grim with knitted brows when he said 'Banana Dorm'. I sighed.

"Banana... Does he mean Savanaclaw?" Deuce asked. I nodded. "Is it just me or are there a lot of delinquents at Night Raven Collage...?"

"I have to agree with you Deuce." I said as I picked up my basket with the chestnuts.

"Our chestnut pile is pretty big. Let's get them back to Trey!" Ace chimed.

"Nyahaha! This tart is gonna be awesome." Grim beamed as he jumped on top of my head. I sighed.

We then head to the cafeteria and head to he kitchen. Trey greeted us with a welcoming smile.

"Welcome back. You picked quite a bit." Trey looked at the chestnuts in the baskets we had.

"With this we can make a huge tart!" Grim jumped on the counter with a grin. He's that excited to eat some freshly made tart. We placed the baskets on the table as Trey explained what we're gonna do.

"Peeling all this is going to be a challenge but... Let's get to it." Trey said.

"All of this... There's no end in sight..." Deuce sweat dropped on how many chestnuts we'd picked.

"As long as we don't together, I'm sure we'll finish in a snap." I told Deuce as he gave a sigh and small smile.

"Let's get to work." Deuce said.

"I hope it'll be over soon." Ace groaned as we get to work.

"Making sweets is all about preposition." Trey told us as we put on some gloves to protect our hands. I refuse to use my magic in this task. I'm not even sure if my magic would be gentle enough not to make a chestnut burst into bits.

"Yeah, yeah, we get it! I'm so ready to get this over with!" Ace groaned as he started to work impatiently.

"Sorry about Ace, Trey. He just wants to get the collar off of him is all." I apologized at Trey as he shook his head.

"No need to apologise. Let's get started, shall we?" I nodded with a smile as we got to work.

It took us a while to get the chestnuts peeled, but, miraculously, we finished.

"Puuah! We're finally done with the peeling!" Ace went limp on his chair. He was ready to never see a single chestnut for a good while.

"Ugh... My arms hurt..." Deuce let his sore arms hang at his sides.

"I'm ready not to see a chestnut ever again." I sighed as I slumped on the table a bit.

"Haha. Good job. Your hard work will make it tastier." Trey complimented.

"Mmmmmm, I'm full from just the smell." Grim almost drooled by the smell.

"Next we mix butter and sugar into the chestnut paste than add Oyster sauce as the secret ingredient." I snapped my head to Trey with a confused look. Oyster sauce? I'm tired but not that tired form peeling the shells.

"Oyster sauce!?" The two boys, who used to be all limp, jolted up surprised.

"Excuse me, what?" I asked with widened eyes.

"Yep, the savoriness of oysters adds depth and richness to the cream." Trey told us.

"Hoo!?" Even Hooty was surprised.

"Is he serious right now?!" Never in my life have I ever heard something like that!! Even if I was cut off from the town for a week or two.

"Here's some young oyster sauce with the walrus' seal of excellence." Trey handed me the oyster sauce as I looked at him with knitted brows. He must be joking, right? "Famous patisseries all use this in their tarts." Trey added.

"Seriously... That's a pretty salty sauce." Deuce muttered, unsure as I was.

"Even chocolate gets put in curry all the time... It might be good." Ace thought for a moment. But I looked at Trey with suspicion.

"You're joking, aren't you?" I asked. Trey snickered then started to laugh.

"It's a joke! Oyster sauce does not belong in sweets." Trey told us as he calm down his laughter.

"Screw you! You said it with a straight face!" Ace glared at Trey.

"Haha! If you took a second to think about it you'd figure it out. Just like Y/n here-" Trey soon turned to me but stopped mid sentence when he saw my face of disappointment. "Haha! Sorry for tricking you!" I only groaned a bit.

"Whatever." I placed the bottle of oyster sauce down on the table.

"Don't just accept things without a healthy amount of scepticism. Better study up." Trey chuckled.

"This guy looks nice but is pretty good at lying..." I nodded at Grim.

"Hoo." Hooty hooted in agreement.

"Next is the whipped cream... Huh!?" Trey looked a bit worried. I tilted my head to as of why.

"What's the matter?" Ace asked.

"You all gathered so many chestnuts that I got a head of myself and made to much marron paste." Trey explained. "Ahh... We don't have enough whipped cream to mix into it." Trey sighed.

"I can go out and buy some. It's sold at the.... School store?" Deuce asked.

"You can find anything at that place so it should be there. Could I ask you to pick up a few other things?" Trey asked Deuce. "2 cartons of milk, a dozen eggs, aluminum cups, and 5 cans of fruit..." Trey listed as I wrote them down. There's no way Deuce can carry all those!!

"I don't think I can carry all that alone. Hey Y/n, do you mind coming with me?" Deuce faced me as I shook my head.

"I didn't mind at all. I already got them listed down anyways." I smiled.

"I'm going too! I'm tired of mixing flour endlessly." Grim joined in. We then head to the School store.
