Everyone was huddled around you trying to prove their point right but it was useless. You denied it over and over again. As much as you were dying inside to find out if it was true you couldn't let the team find out about your crush on Hotchner. Another few minutes of teasing passed by until Hotch entered the room. He cleared his throat and stood at the entrance. Everyone quit their bickering and the room went silent.

"Family's are here" he said getting everyone's attention. Everyone switch now turned back into work mode. Everyone stood up and passed Hotchner at the door. You were last to leave since you were cleaning up the papers you were reading. "Y/N, stay with me for today...please" you heard him say as you collected the papers. "Yes sir" you say finally grabbing the last paper and walking towards the door.

You were about to push past Hotchner when he grabbed your wrist and stopped you. "Please tell me if this case is to much Y/N" he said looking into your eyes. His eyes were a stern look at first but once they met yours they softened and had this unknown warmth to them. "I'll be okay Hotch... besides it's my job to work cases even if they are a little freaky" you say giving him a small smile. You broke the eye contact and looked down at his hand holding your wrist. You felt butterflies again.

He let go of your arm. "Let's go" he said returning back to his stern self. Maybe it was the teams teasing getting into your head but he was acting softer and more careful  towards you today, but maybe it's just because he knows how this case makes you feel. You both walked the hallways leading into the room where a lady was sitting there in despair. "Hello I'm special agent Aaron Hotchner" he said shaking a woman's hand.

The woman was older and she had clearly been crying. Her white long hair was messy, probably from running her hands through it. She has tear stains running down to her chin and her eyes were red and puffy. "Hi, I'm Agent Y/N L/N" you saying giving the poor woman a soft comforting smile and shaking her hand. Her grip was tight and she looked right into your eyes. "You look just like her" she said with fresh tears now running down her face.

"I'm so sorry for your loss ma'am... I promise you Agent Hotchner and I will do the best we can to find whoever did this" you say. You felt so bad for the woman. You know what it feels like to be in this position. Before you joined the bau you were in the same spot she is in right now. Your mother had been killed in a hike trail. She was the reason you joined the bau. You and her were inseparable, always doing things together.

"Thank you so much... because of people like you and agent Hotchner people like my granddaughter get justice" she said tightening the grip on your hand. You looked at Hotchner with watery eyes. Flashbacks of this exact moment came flooding back. It was the first time you ever met Hotch. You thanked him the same way this woman thanked you. From that day on you promised yourself you would do as much as possible to help the team.

Sometimes you would finish their paper work, maybe make a coffee, but one of the biggest things you did was take care of Jack for Hotch. That was your way of showing your gratitude towards the team. Besides you loved Jack he was the sweetest little boy. Usually you would be at Hotchners house and take care of him or other times at the park so he can play with his friends. Yes, your relationship with Hotch was professional but sometimes you felt as if it was more.

Hotchner walked closer to you and place a hand on your back for support. He knows how much those words mean to you. He hated seeing the sight of you in pain. The woman finally let go of your hand. You gave her a smile and wiped the tears off your eyes. You placed your own hand on top of hotchners. "Thank you Hotch, I'm okay" you say. He cleared his throat and removed his hand off your back.

The next few hours were spent talking to the woman. There wasn't much information that could help find who was committing this horrible crime, not until you asked the million dollar question. "No other family members or friends are suspicious so what about ex lovers or ex friends?" you ask tapping your pen on the notepad. "My darling had no bad blood agent l/n but there was this once ex who would not leave her alone" she said wiping tears away.

It must feel horrible thinking back at those memories now since the damage has been done. "Do you happen to remember the name?" Hotchner asked pacing around the room. "I think it was Jack Will if I remember correctly" she said. "Jack Will?" you asked. You stopped tapping the pen on the notebook and froze. Jack Will was your old high-school shit of a boyfriend. It hit you like a ton of bricks. "I know him Hotch..." you said.
