I sigh as I walk out the door
can't wait for another day in hell..

the moment i arrive
when i step on school property
my almost daily routine will begin
a few punches
kicks to the gut
and my hair being pulled
and books knocked from my hands

I'm late again..
not like it isn't normally like this
but it gets tiring
why can't he pick on someone else
no
never mind
if he did then Mingrui would be hurt
twice as much as he already is
I have to protect him
even if it hurts

the bell rings in my ears
signaling the end of our last class
I stand up and try to be the first out
hoping that if I ran fast enough
I could maybe avoid the beatings

but of course
luck wasn't on my side

although something was off
Xinlong was alone this time
all his friends were off somewhe-

my thoughts are cut off
when he pins me to my locker
and I et out a small whine of pain

he grabs my shirt lifting me up
"you piece of shit!
you're ruining my life!"
he shouts at me in anger
but this only leaves me confused
what have I done?

upon seeing my confused expression he slams my back against the locker
only harder this time
"don't act like you've no idea what you've done! I won't play games!"

I manage to get my voice to come out
but only quietly
"w-what do you mean..?"
I ask him
bracing myself for a hard punch

but it never came

I opened my eyes slowly
shocked at what I saw

he was...
crying?

suddenly I was dropped to the ground
and his loud footsteps
began to echo across the hallway

just as I was going to run after him
his friends walked over
"what the hell'd you do to him punk?!"
Hanyu yells at me
making me flinch back

I mumble a small "I dunno"
but it seems he didn't hear
as he then yells
"answer me punk!
do you want your cute little frie-"
he cuts himself off
as he realizes what he said

he stands up
clearing his throat awkwardly
"uh uhm- that's not what I meant-
I bet you probably think he's cute!
you're so gay ya lil' punk"
he says becoming aggressive again
he kicks me one last time
before walking off
