Bad, bad news ;
One of us is gonna lose ;

Just add some friction.

"DON'T TAKE too long, and be careful, call me if you need anything."

Marie rolled her eyes with an amused smile. "Yes, mama."

"You go to the store, you buy a dozen of eggs and you come straight back right after, okay? We have to put the cake in the oven as soon as possible so we can eat it tonight after dinner." Anne said as she set the bag of flour on the counter. Meanwhile the whisk was moving by itself, stirring the egg whites in a bowl.

"I'll be right back !" Mary chirped as she grabbed her mother's set of keys and sauntered towards the front door.

She heard her mother yell for the last time "Be careful!" before she closed the front door shut and locked it.

She was finally allowed to go outside alone. She was unable to wipe the grin off her face as she made her way down the street towards the grocery store. The sun was high in the sky, warming up her skin to the point where it was uncomfortable even though she was wearing a light white dress.

She was humming to the music coming from her earbuds as she entered the grocery store and made a beeline for the eggs, she quickly went to checkout to pay for them and hurried outside.

On the way back home she walked by the park and her gaze got attracted by the empty swing. She stopped in her tracks to stare at it, the child still inside of her begging to play.

She pursed her lips as she reajusted her tote bag on her shoulder. Well... Maybe she could try just for five minutes. After all, she had never been on a swing before.

She set her bag down next to the swing and took a seat, her hands gripping the chains. Her sneaker clad feet slowly left the ground as she unsurely tried to swing.

After a few tries she finally gained enough momentum to properly swing, and she giggled as she felt the wind through her hair and she felt like she was flying.

Suddenly a man went to stand in front of her, and she yelped as she planted her feet firmly into the ground so she wouldn't barrel into him.

"Hey." He said with a smile, his dark eyes scanning her from head to toes.

"Hello." She responded, feeling slightly nervous and self conscious under his intense stare.

"Listen..." He began as he scratched the back of his neck. "My friends and I are not from LA and we're kinda lost. You know where the nearest gas station is?"

She gave a short nod, and he pointed at a grey car parked a few feet away. "You think you could get in the car and show us? We'll take you back right after."

Marie took a few seconds to consider it, and she shrugged with a smile as she jumped to her feet before grabbing her bag. "Sure."

The stranger's lips curled in a smirk as he started leading Marie to his car. However they were only able to take a few steps before Marie felt a strong grip on her biceps that stopped her in her tracks. Startled by the interruption she looked behind to find a familiar pair of crystal blue eyes.
