Chapter 13 - Nia Campbell

"Ughhh I hate it here," I whine as Ashley gets dressed.

"Come on you can meet my parents," she retorts.

"I can't. Dumb freaking rules. I will later though," I reply. It's parents/family day. Seems like everyone's parents or siblings came to visit them. Except mine of course. My mom is well you know and my dad. Doesn't care enough.

"I'll see you later babes," Ashley blows me a kiss and leaves the room. I guess I better get up. Nah. Not like I'm doing anything today.

Knock, knock

"It's open," I yell.

"What if I was a murderer," Nick says entering my room.

"Then do what you have to do," I reply, sitting up.

"Get ready," he says, sitting down on my purple bean bag. He really loves that chair.

"Why," I mumble.

"Because we're not sulking. Get your ass up."

"Yes sir," I salute him. After taking a shower and getting dressed, I decide on some leggings and a sweatshirt.

"Ready," I ask Nick as I walk back in. He's on his phone but quickly slides it in his pocket when he sees me and smiles. We get into his car and he starts driving. After around 20 minutes we finally reached our destination.  It seems to be a trampoline park.

''Why are we here Nick,'' I ask.

''To jump why not,'' he answers.

''Let's jump,'' I laugh.

Chris' POV

I kissed her. I kissed Storm. She kissed back so she must feel the same way. Right? I fought the feeling for so long but I couldn't anymore. Not after yesterday. Our talk on the rooftop, then picnic in the treehouse and the matching tattoos just threw me overboard. I like Storm. But I can't, I can't risk falling in love. Not again, not after last time.

"Christopher!," the familiar voice yells. I turned around to see my parents.

'"Hey mom," I say, hugging her tiny frame.

"Chris! Have you gotten taller," she asks, as I pull away.

"Same height, mom," I answer.

"Well I must be getting shorter," she laughs. I love my mom, she's been there for me more than my dad but she hasn't been there for me. She'd bring me soup when I was sick but won't have an actual conversation with me that last more than 10 minutes.

"Dad," I greet, facing my father.

"Christopher, let's sit," he directs towards the table. I nod and comply. "So," he starts pulling out a paper. He does this every year.

"A in all your classes except business. B+ is unacceptable if you want to take over my business," he starts.

He knows I don't want to do that. He always tells me I have no choice. Family business he says. I zone him out thinking back to what Storm said last week. "At the end of the day it's our life, we control our paths"

I look around the room till I spot Sam. He's laughing with his dad. I don't want to be jealous but I am. We all have our struggles though, including Sam.

"Are you listening to me boy," my father snaps at me.

"Yeah, I'll get my grades up," I reply honestly.

"Hi, Hayley. Lovely seeing you again," my mom greets. I whip my head around to see her standing behind me. My parents are obsessed with Hayley. Well, her parents social status.
