SPOILED INNOCENCE
chapter four
❝courage & intimidation❞

IN THE MORNING, BABY REFUSED TO BELIEVE THAT THE NIGHT BEFORE ACTUALLY HAPPENED AT THAT IT WASN'T SOME SORT OF FUCKED UP FEVER DREAM. She quickly got dressed and packed up her things before hesitantly making her way out of the guest bedroom. She tiptoed through the hallway, checking to see if Meredith was awake, luckily she wasn't. She peered into Cal and Marsha's bedroom, the door was opened and the bed was already made. She looked at Cal's office but the door was closed and she wasn't about to knock to check if he was in there or not.

Baby walked down the steps, staring at the door with excitement that she could finally get out and lay in her own bed. Maybe even get some clarity over what in the actual hell she let happen the night before. But just like everything else seemed to get turned in her life, the front door opened.

She hesitantly stood on the stairs like a deer in headlights when she saw Nate enter the home.

"What are you doing here?" He questioned.

"I stayed the night cause I was watching Mere really late," Baby explained. She wanted that to be the end of that but her curiosity got the better of her. "Why are you coming in? It's like six in the morning."

"I could ask why you're leaving at six in the morning," Nate stated bluntly. "But I don't put my nose into other people's business."

"Sorry," Baby muttered before making the rest of the way down the stairs. Before she left she turned to Nate. "Can you just tell Mr. Jacobs that my dad came and got me, please?"

Nate nodded before she left and he started to think about why the hell it looked like she was sneaking out.

The morning air was crisp on Baby's face. It was cooler than normal but not cold. She enjoyed it more than she thought she would. The sun was beaming just right. It was mostly quiet except for the cars that drove to get to work.

Her mind started to wander back to the night before. How she took five shots after some vague comforting words from a girl she had met a few weeks ago when she swore she would never actually drink. Or how she couldn't help but feel every single part of her skin that Cal grazed when he helped her undress. Now that she thought about it, she couldn't help but think that the sun that warmed her skin felt just like when Cal's fingers grazed her skin—so warm, comforting, and she never wanted it to stop.

She knew that it was bad. It was all bad. Maybe she could forgive herself for drinking, but she could never forgive herself for begging Cal to help her undress, or for asking him to lay with her.

What the hell was that? Baby thought to herself. Why did I let that happen?

Maybe it was the sneaking out that felt the worse. If she had just slept in and made Meredith's breakfast or if she just didn't feel so much urgency to get out, there would be nothing wrong.
