[COMPLETED] (Book 1/3)

It was him.

It was his scent, there was no mistaking it.

For months I was searching and now, I know he's here, his musky scent has never been stronger. I ran through the trees and stopped to catch my breath for a second.

I couldn't see him. I couldn't hear him. But the mate bond made it possible for me to sense him still. And now, I could smell him, he was so very close.

I closed my eyes to collect myself when I felt a hand make its way over my eyes, and an arm slithered around my waist.

Ecstasy like I have never felt before swelled in my chest as I relaxed in his arms. I could feel the tears of happiness in my eyes.

That's when I heard him speak, and I could almost hear my heart shattering.

"You have to stop looking for me, my love."

I was still processing his words, before I realized that he was gone.

...

Immediately, I feel this strange sensation in my body, like something is pulling me to him. His chocolate brown eyes roam over me in curiosity but when our eyes meet, that's when everything changes. His shine bright red and all I hear are my beasts murmuring the word "mate" in realization. I step back in shock, an action that he doesn't seem to appreciate. He snarls, marching towards me and pulling me flush against his chest. I bite my lip when the skin contact feels like my body is rejoicing; as if I had been missing a piece to the puzzle my whole life. He has no body heat and it immediately makes me shiver. I stare up at him, still reeling from everything that's happened and now this. "I've finally found you, my beloved." He murmurs low enough for just us to hear, staring down at me in awe. "Who's out there?" One of the men yelled. Of course only silence met them. I remained quiet and waited for the group to start moving again. "Maybe it was just an animal." Someone whispered. The person, who I assumed was the captain of the small squad, signaled for them to walk again. They clearly showed fear as they kept going; brandishing their weapons to guard themselves with. "Two are holding lanterns. I'll tell you when you're too close to them." I heard my friend whisper in my ear. I followed the men as I picked up another branch and waited for the right time to break it. They continued to walk through the forest, turning their heads in every direction as if an animal might lunge at them and rip their throats out. I guess in a way I was going to do that. "Go back a few feet." My friend whispered. I carefully distanced myself from the group and waited. "Where is she?" I quickly snapped the stick as soon as he finished asking the question. They stopped and two soldiers raised their lanterns to shine its light in the darkness. I quickly hid behind a tree before both of them turned where I was. A low frustrated growl came from one of the men, "The girl's playing with us. She's out here following our every move." How paranoia can cloud the mind. At nine years old, Silver decided to leave her village for the forest. Since then, she's been hunted; everyday is a fight for her life, every breath she takes could be her last, but she's determined to stay alive. Her life isn't the kind anyone would want to live but she's managed to survive this long so, what's a few more years?

[COMPLETED] (Book 2/3) I can't stand him. I don't understand him. Does he hate me? Does he not? He is undeniably confusing, obnoxious and can't take criticism. He is basically the stereotypical Alpha and I hate that about him. What would it take for him to be a little considerate? Maybe he's jealous I got my wolf before he did? That's probably it. The big bad wolf can't stand a little competition. So that's exactly what I'll give him. Some good, healthy competition. ... After being abandoned in a forest near Fathilagt, Rayne was found as an infant by Rosabelle soon after the first attack on the peaceful pack. Rosabelle raised Rayne as her own and shielded her from whatever hardships she could. But Rayne's experience in her pack wasn't always pleasant and some people did their best to make her feel like she didn't belong in Fathilagt. Especially a certain soon-to-be Alpha who takes more than necessary interest in her, in more ways than one. Staying out of the spotlight isn't easy when the universe has different plans for you, and Rayne struggles with finding a safe space to hide herself from those who blame her for things she is yet to understand.
