a quiet voice woke eliana up in the morning, followed by someone violently shaking her shoulders. "happy fucking birthday!" lola yelled.
"oh my god, lola, what the hell." she complained, and buried her face in her pillow.
"come on, get up, you bum!" lola pulled her out of bed.
"why are you more excited than me?"
"because i already drank coffee!"
she groaned and got out of bed. no one else said anything to her during breakfast, but when she walked into the gym, a huge banner reading "happy 20th birthday!" hung from the ceiling, and everyone had party hats and noise makers.
"happy birthday!" they all yelled, and she laughed. "thanks, guys."
peter came over and plopped a hat onto her head, then gave her a hug. "isn't this exactly how you wanted to spend your birthday?" he joked.
"i wouldn't have it any other way." she giggled.
