"you know, he doesn't shut up about you." sky said.
"really?" she said. he nodded.
"i will admit, my teammates have heard a lot about the newsie with the curly blond hair." she giggled a little bit. sky opened the door to the coffee shop for her. "you do, uh, wanna date him, right?"
she paused. "yeah, i-i think so."
"you think so?" sky raised an eyebrow as he moved up to the cashier. he held up a finger to her, then ordered the coffee. he sat down across from her at the counter.
eliana swallowed. "well, i like him. a lot."
"so you'd want to date him?"
"sky...i've never really dated someone. i haven't had the time or energy."
"ben hasn't either." he said.
"and with you guys being on tour, it'd be so much harder."
"if it eases your mind at all," he said, "i know he'd be willing to put the work in."
she smiles. "do you think he's going to-"
"ask you?" sky finished her sentence. "he wants to. but he won't do it unless he's sure you'll say yes."
she nodded slowly. "i don't want to jump into anything. maybe closer to when you guys are leaving."
sky's name was called, and he went to grab the tray of coffee. outside the door, he gave her a one armed hug. "hey, you just text me if you wanna talk, okay?"
"okay." eliana smiled. "see ya, sky."
he tipped his baseball hat at her and walked away. on her way home, eliana passed the gym and thought about going back in, but decided against it. there was always tomorrow.
