Unexpected Surprise - Klaroline

7. Waking Up

Caroline's POV

Black. All I can see is black. I can't feel, hear, see or smell anything. I don't know for how long I have been like this but it feels like it's been days.

After a while I notice that I can feel my body again. I can smell something oddly filmier, almost smells like the woods after it rains. I have my eyes still shut but I can now feel it again. I slowly sit up and peak open my eyes. 

The first thing I notice is the wolf Klaus besides me. Which I find oddly comforting.

Klaus looks like he is in the same position as me looking groggy and disoriented. I look through the room I am in someone's bedroom. "Where are we?" I ask out loud.

Klaus' POV

As I start to wake up from what you could call that; I see Caroline. Still beautiful even in her wrinkled clothes and sleepy eyes. I hear her ask where we are and that is when I become aware of where I am. I am in my room in my mansion. I stand up gesturing for her to follow and she does. We walk out of my room and out to the hallway. Recognition flashed in her eyes and she asked "How did we get here?"

No One's POV

"Well what the hell happened to them?" Rebekah said over the phone to Elijah after he told his little sister about what happened with the earlier spell.

"I am not sure what happened exactly. After they both passed out I brought them over to the house to keep an eye on them - he paused - You should come home Rebekah." He heard a sigh from the other end of the phone

"As much as I would love to see our brother and Caroline again I think I will stay exactly where I am. I am in no rush to be daggered after his newest fit of rage."

"I understand. But I do hope to see you soon. If you change your mind you know where to find us." Elijah says before he hangs up.

After the phone call Elijah had with Rebekah he hears the sound of Caroline's voice and can hear his brother's footsteps. He vamp speeds in their direction. Startled Caroline jumps and Klaus' focus is locked on Elijah and his next moves. Though Elijah does make an effort to make himself as non threatening in body language as much as he can his brother is still on the defensive. Caroline notices the exchange and settles her hand on Klaus' fur to settle him.

"Good after noon Caroline, Niklaus."

Caroline's POV

After soothing Klaus, my mind is running a million miles a minute and as soon as Elijah speaks the questions start to form in my head and I can't help but let them fly.

"How did we get here? How long were we out? What happened with the spell? Was there a signal? Did you bring us here? How-" Elijah cut me off.

"Caroline there are answers to all of your questions but how about we go to Declan and discuss this." I nod and follow him.

No One's POV

When Elijah, Caroline and Klaus enter the library they find Declan in a salt circle, eyes closed and candles lit around him. He is chanting quietly and in a quick gasp he opens his eyes. He looks up to see them all and breaths out "Good you both are awake. I was just conversing with the ancestors about the spell."

"About that, what the hell happened" Caroline bellowed

"Well in the proceeding of the spell the ancestors were supposed to give me a signal, and this was it when you passed out they not only did that to you but they also did another. They did something to the bond. They did nothing that would harm it but they certainly did something, they are refusing to tell me." Declan explains with deep breaths

"So there is a bond? Is it a mate bond or a true mate bond?" Elijah askes

"A true mate bond"

"So what does this mean for my brother and Caroline?"

"Well they will both be mentally and physically bound to each other. They will hear each other's thoughts and share their strengths."

Caroline and Klaus are stunned. Neither know what to say nor do.

Noticing their discomfort, Declan asks Caroline "Should I do the other spell or would you like to do it later?" Knowing exactly which he meant she knew her answer

Looking up to Declan she says with a shays voice "D-do it now. I don't feel very patient to find out the answer later."

Declan, Caroline, Klaus, and Elijah head to Klaus' room to let Caroline lay down on the bed while the spell is performed. 

Although Klaus is still at her side sitting on the bed, in a protective stance towards the others in the room feeling uncomfortable with how close they are to her. 

Once Caroline is laying down Declan keeps a good distance away from them still wary of what Klaus might do. He pulled out some ingredients out of his bag and says "I need you to remain calm. I will start chanting and it will grow in power, you will feel move through you. If you don't keep yourself calm neither will he." gesturing to Klaus next to her. She nodded in understanding of what might happen if Klaus' wolf loses control.

Declan grabbed several herbs and put them into a bowl drowning them into a powder he added several other ingredients while beginning to chant "Nihil amplius, quam quod sit pura, quam nihil id est innocentes. A puero ut clausit conceptum amorem." Caroline feels as if there is electricity moving throughout her blood and bones. Feeling her heart rate and breathing speed up, she knows she has to get them under control or else Klaus will do something about it. Klaus just now breaks his staring off of the witch and is now noticing the heavy and quick breaths Caroline is taking. Sensing she is in distress all he can think about is helping her. 

So doing something nobody expect him to do. Instead of lashing out on the witch that is upsetting her he lays down and starts crawling towards her nuzzling her head and neck to sooth her. Her breathing starts to calm, heart rate starts to slow and no longer does Caroline feel the pressure of forcing herself to calm down. 

Elijah is standing a little ways back to give all of them some space and observes the interaction of Caroline and his brother. Never has he seen his brother comfort anyone outside of family and even now in his wolf form even more blood thirst and rage filled than normal. Entirely stunned and Elijah does no effort to hide it on his face. "Dic mihi, quaenam esse aut non. In fatis esse aut non. Uisura marinos esse aut non. A puero pura, innocentes, fatis destinata ... vel non." 

Declan's chanting stops. 

Everything is still. No one dared to speak or breath. Awaiting for the answer. Declan took a breath and looked up at Caroline who was nearly shaking in anticipation she herself not knowing weather in dread or in love about the prospects of having a child. With Klaus still noticing her stressed state upping his nuzzling to sooth her. Not giving any attention to the witch or the next words he is going to utter. Only focused on soothing his Caroline... His mate. 

"You are pregnant, Caroline"

Translation:

Pure nothing is more than this, innocent is nothing more than this. A child conceived through love. Tell me, meant to be or not. Fated to be or not. Destined to be or not. A child pure and innocent, fated and destined... or not.
