Ike tapped her fingers on the table as she stared at the blank sheet in front of her. Ugh by BTS was playing softly in the background while Ike used her other arm to fondle the necklace on her neck.
She sighed as she stopped tapping her fingers on the desk and folded her arms. She didn't know that coming up with a bucket list would be this hard.
She grabbed her phone as she changed it No More Dream still by BTS and started nodding her head to the beat.
The school day had ended uneventful like every other day and for the first time in almost three weeks since school resumed, she didn't run into him.
Except that Chidima blabbed about Lashe releasing a new song and Zikora releasing her model photos for NIKE, the day went flawlessly.
After twirling the pen in her hands a hundred times; Ike finally bent down and started scribbling in the blank sheet. She bobbled her head excitedly as soon as the song changed to Idol a song Nicki Minaj and BTS had sang together.
For a normal teenager, listening to songs in a language she barely understood wasn't fun at all but for Ike who had been a fan of the boy band for five years; their songs brought her peace even than the songs she could easily relate to.
She relaxed back in her chair as she stared at the things she had written in her blank sheet.
1. Sing a song and play guitar in front of a crowd.
2. Eat the biggest bowl of ice cream.
3. Watch a live BTS concert.
4. Take Gloria and Chidima out.
Ike chuckled at her bucket list. It probably was the most stupid bucket list ever. And watching a BTS live concert? Was impossible but still Ike wrote it down and glanced at the paper.
A face wheezed through her mind and Ike pursed her lips as she picked her pen and wrote number five.
5. Fall in love.
Ike took a deep breath as she stood up and slid the bucket list into one of her textbooks. She quickly brought it out and took a picture of her before returning it back into the textbook.
The song changed to DNA by BTS again and Ike smiled as she wrigged her body around the room singing fluently along with the music.
Ike became a fan of BTS when she was in JSS1. She was rummaging through YouTube when she came across this videos with seven boys singing and dancing. Even though she barely understood what they where saying, her curiosity got better of her as she went to search about them.
She was surprised to learn that such a boy band existed in the world and that was all it took for Ike to become a fan. There practically wasn't any video of BTS Ike hadn't watched.
Be it their episodes, their Music videos, interviews or any thing at all. She had hundreds of their video on her laptop and their pictures? She had millions.
Their songs made her relax and happy. She always laugher while watching their videos. BTS had given her hope; with Doctor John, they did give her a reason to continue living even though she had such a short time to live.
Her songs inspired her and even though Ike wasn't fluent in Korean that much, she could comfortably sing their songs from the beginning to the end.
The necklace on her neck bounced out and it was a BTS necklace. The ring on her left hand was an inscription Shuga.
Her phone buzzed and Ike quickly picked the phone and opened her WhatsApp messages. She sighed as she sat down. It was her classmates arguing who was the most handsome guy on the SSS2 block.
Faye.
You guys are being hilarious. Theo is more handsome than Akin. Who Akin epp?
Jumoke
Faye, you are getting it all wrong. Theo may be cuter than Akin but Akin is much more handsome girl. Have you seen Akin in a tuexedo before? Girl you'll melt to death.
Lola
The thing wey you people dey talk no reach me. Akin and Theo? Where you people throw Juola?

Ike hurriedly clicked on the photos and scrolled through it as a small smile graced her lips. Jumoke wasn't lying when she said his face was out of the world.
It was totally out of the world. I mean who wears a pair of shorts and a casual top yet looks like he just stepped out of a movie cover?
Maybe only he could look like that. Ike ignored the increasing chats in the group and kept scrolling through the over ten pictures Funto had sent.
"I give it to him. He's cute" Ike murmured as she walked towards her computer and sat down. She quickly repacked her hair into a ponytail as she turned to the computer.
She opened her video folder and clicked on the movies she had downloaded the night before and started watching.
Whether she realized it or not, or maybe she did and chose to ignore it; night fell and by the time she was down watching the movie since it was a series and had two seasons, it was already past 9pm.
She quickly shut down her computer and walked out of her room down the stairs. She met her mom on the stairs and gave her a hug.
"I was about to come up and call you. How was school?" Mrs Adeniyi asked and Ike shrugged.
"The usual. Nothing changed" Ike replied and Mrs Adeniyi laughed.
"Its always the same huh?" She asked as Ike nodded.
"Always the same. Its like repeating the same thing everyday. Although a few changes started taking place a few days ago. Nothing much but there's a change" Ike replied as her mom nodded.
"Egusi or vegetable?" She asked as Ike sat down on the slab in the kitchen.
"Vegetable" Ike replied as she glanced at the exquisite kitchen before her gaze returned to her mom. She stared at the 40 year old woman silently.
She only didn't get pregnant early, she had to struggle to get pregnant when her in-laws started threatening to throw her out of the house.
And even after managing to have a baby and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get another, she was told that her only child had just few years to live. She would spend a lot on the child and before the child will be able to repay her; she would die.
Ike quickly wore a smile as her mom gave her, her tray of food. The older woman was beaming a smile and talking about her day of work as if everything was alright.
And she had been wearing that smile for the past twelve years, ever since they learnt of her disease. They both had been wearing that smile, both scared when it would crack.
