Graduation Day

Hinata's POV
Today was the day I'd been waiting for. The day everyone anticipates the moment they step foot through the doors for the very first time. Graduation day.

This year, it was my turn. All third years were once again graduating and this year, it was my time. My time to move on from high school and find my aim even higher than before.
I hardly slept last night from excitement but honestly from nerves too.
I'd stayed at home since my mother and sister were coming to see the ceremony. She's bought the cap and gown for me (despite the hat being a little too big on me-) but it didn't matter.

Finally my alarm went off for me to wake up and I sprang out of bed. It reminded me of my eleventh birthday - the day I received Itazura.
The legendary companion who has remained with me through everything life has thrown at me.
The last three years have probably been the most eventful of my life - both in good and bad ways but honestly, I don't think I've ever felt happier.

As I changed, my phone pinged signaling a message. Taking a peek I saw it was from Tobio.
Opening it up I read the message properly.
King 👑: "Morning Tangerine."
Chuckling I replied.
Fluffball 🍊: ( yes that is my nickname now) "Morning Your Highness~"
King 👑: "Why you little-"
I giggled as I put my phone down and slipped my t-shirt on, releasing Itazura at the same time before I replied to my boyfriend once again.
Fluffball 🍊: "Graduation day! Are you excited?"
King 👑: "Meh I guess. Just seems like a normal day to me."
Honestly I felt offended by that but he does still rarely show emotion.
He's probably shitting himself. I snickered at that thought.
Fluffball 🍊: "I'll meet you on our usual corner in 20-"
King 👑: "K. I love you."
I smiled at that. He's too cute!
Fluffball 🍊: "I love you too."

With that I did a few stretches, fed Itazura her favourite breakfast and then rushed out my house after yelling goodbye to my mother and sister. They'd see me soon at Karasuno anyway.

I ran fast, laughing and cheering to myself with my cap and gown in my bag that was hanging over my shoulders.
Itazura was flying above me as I ran the entire way. I loved this feeling!

But I suddenly crashed and landed on top of someone causing me to let out a sudden shocked cry.

But my eyes snapped open when I heard the voice. "Boke Hinata Boke! Watch where you're going!"

I looked up to see Kageyama under me and blushing ever so slightly. I laughed as I got up.
"Sorry Kags. I'm just excited. I've been waiting for this day for so long!"
"Still watch you're going!" Kageyama got up and dusted himself off before I took his hand. My other hand pet Shinryaku as she padded up to me and nuzzled against my legs.
"Hiya girl." I giggled and started to bounce along the pavement, still holding Kageyama's hand.
"Oi! Boke stop it!"
"I can't help it! I feel so whee! and wahh! and shwoosh! Get it?!"
"Absolutely not-"

I stopped bouncing at that and pouted up at my boyfriend. "Aww come on Kags! You're not fun."
"I am in bed~" he purred back.

I blushed hard and looked ahead of me with wide eyes at that. "Touché~"
Kags smirked at me and I just blushed harder as we continued to walk the rest of the way to school.

Upon arrival we were escorted to the gym where only third years were as of now to prepare. We found Tsukkishima, Yamaguchi and Yachi by the speaking podium.
"Bout time you two showed up." Yachi greeted with a giggle when she saw us.
"Sorry. We had a collision." I explained, through clearly not well enough as the other three third years began to laugh.
"I didn't mean that kind of collision!"
"He's right he really didn't-" Kageyama backed me up. Though I suppose the small number of hickeys that still resided on the lower part of my neck didn't help my situation-

Eventually the vice principle walked in the explain the program.
Apparently, Kageyama was to give a speech for the volleyball club in the middle of the graduation.
I saw him start to panic clearly not knowing what to say since he'd obviously forgotten he had to do a speech.
Thankfully I have a way with words so-
"Hey hey Kags. Calm down. I'll do the speech for you. I know what to say."

With the rest of the program explained, the third years sat in their respective seats at the front of the gym as the second and first years shuffled in.

The program began smoothly and with each speech given by selected members of the year, each person received their graduation certificate.
Eventually, the volleyball club was announced and the five of us walked up to the podium - each one receiving our certificate. I felt so giddy as I shook the vice principle's hand I saw the younger volleyball members smiling and giving thumbs up from the floor.
But as I stepped up to speak, I suddenly caught sight of my mother and sister as well as seeing Kageyama's mom and dad as well as Miwa in the crowd beside them. They showed up. I-

I looked to Kageyama, and apparently he'd seen them too as I saw him trying so hard to hold back his tears.
So clearing my throat I began to speak.

"Now of course I'm not the club's official captain but currently he's going through the motions so-"
"Oi! You didn't have to say it like that-" Kageyama interrupted me but his voice broke which made me slightly snicker.
"Anyway. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that has supported us all through each and every one of our games. From current players to former players, to outside students and to friends and family. We wouldn't be in this situation nor would we have restored Karasuno's legacy without your help." I stepped to the side of the podium and bowed again ninety degree angle. "Thank you!"

I felt a smile tug on my lips as I heard my family, Kageyama's family and the younger members cheering the loudest out of everyone.

With a following thank you from the other third years up here with me I stood straight and walked off stage to allow the ceremony to continue.

~Time Skip~

The ceremony finished several hours ago and the former third year members were out for a celebratory dinner at a nearby restaurant with the former club members we've grown to know and love.

Honestly, watching everyone here - my boyfriend beside me, my teammates surrounding me, I felt proud and as always, I felt home. Where I truly should be.

With my volleyball family.
