Thanks again to AlluringPixie for requesting this. After finishing, I got a request to do another part; honestly, I felt the story of the nightingale did not end there. I hope you enjoy! Xx
P.S. Hermione_6000 thank you for giving me some inspiration!

(Y/N) stepped through the night, as the trees swayed softly in the darkness of the sky. The night was so peaceful, so humble. The glitter of stars dotted the sky, and the soft breeze tickled her arms. She laughed, her voice ringing through the trees. She quickly covered her mouth, fearing she may have been heard.

"Tuniviel! Tuniviel!"

A blush crept up her cheeks as the mellow voice of a fine prince touched her ears. She held herself for a moment, a shyness taking hold, before turning into the moonlight, finding Legolas darting towards her. His smile made her feel ecstatic, every second watching it making her heart soar further. Leaping into a hug, the two twirled in the moonlight, enjoying the silence in their company.

It had been many nights since the day Legolas first came across the nightingale. Perhaps even years, they couldn't keep track of the time. It felt like they had been together forever, yet it seemed short nonetheless. The two began to meet regularly; accidentally at first, before they planned out times where they could meet each other. Eventually, it became a habit they could not break.

"I didn't think you'd come, Mellon!" she said as he put her down.

There was a sense of disappointment in his face, but the prince managed to smile. "I'd never forgo one of our meetings. They are of upmost importance; I wouldn't miss them for the world!"

"Legolas, you cannot promise that. You cannot promise anything. You're a prince, you have your duties. Quite frankly, we shouldn't be seeing each other secretly like this. And you shouldn't joke by calling me Tuniviel! What if someone heard you?"

"So what if someone heard me? In fact, if they did not hear it before, let them hear it now; for you are a beautiful creature and I am in awe of you. Let it be known that none of us are worthy to walk upon the same land as you, Tuniviel! I am honoured to be graced by your presence."

The prince took her hands up to his lips, kissing them carefully. Her heart thumped, but she tore her hands away.

"Don't speak of me like that," she said shakily. "Legolas, you are to be married. You're the heir to the throne! You shouldn't mess around."

"Who said I was?"

His statement caught her off guard, but she wasn't untrained with evasiveness. She shrugged it off, albeit badly, strolling away from him and through the winding forest.

"So...what do you wish to do today?"

"Hm...you haven't sang for a while. Is there a reason? I haven't put you off, have I?"

"Gosh no. I just haven't needed to sing for a while. For a while, it was the only thing that made me happy. Now, I find myself more content than I ever was, sitting on that balcony reciting hymns. Though I don't wish to ever stop singing, I don't think I need to do it as much anymore."

"You wouldn't loathe me if I asked you to sing for me?"

"Why would I loathe you, dearest friend?"

The smile they exchanged was brightest on (Y/N)'s side. Again Legolas faulted, but was better at hiding it.

"Will you sing for me then, (Y/N)?"

"Of course. Which song would you like me to perform?"

"Hm... something in sindarin. I've only ever heard you sing in the tongue of men. It would please me if you sang in elvish."

Her grin widened. There was something equally daunting and invigorating at she opened her mouth to sing the first few notes. Her eyes locked with the dear Prince, and in those moments of gazing into his blue orbs, she found it easier than ever to sing.

The tune soothed him, making him forget all his trials and tribulations he faced daily. Legolas could only see her, only feel her.

(Y/N).

When the song came to an end, he clapped instantly. She tottered back, surprised by his reaction. "You thought I was that good?"

"You were incredible. Your voice always has me in awe."

"Legolas..." she mumbled, her cheeks turning red. "You're too sweet."

"I only speak the truth," he said quietly, taking her hand in his.

"Thank you."

She absentmindedly stroked her thumb over his fingers. He blushed at the movement, and pulled her hand closer to him. (Y/N) stared in amazement, taken aback by the gesture.

"Legolas?" she asked, her cheeks heating up.

"(Y/N)...please listen when I tell you this. Please don't dismiss me unless your heart earnestly does not feel it. For I...I care for you. I know you think it's too much for us to be together. That am I a prince, and you are but a commoner. But I cannot help my affections. They grow every day, with the rise and fall of the sun. I know you may be nervous, or think that people may not approve. Well I'm here to tell you that if you love me, none of that will matter. If you love me, I will fight for you."

The woman moved back, taking back her hand. Her chest heaved, as his words embedded into her memory. She never dreamed of him caring for her in such a way. She would've laughed, wondering of how it had all started with him hearing her singing. But she was shocked, in awe of what she had heard.

"Legolas...I...I don't what to say."

"Say what you believe in your heart."

She breathed, taming her racing heart. His friendship had meant the world to her. But were they ready to step out into the world and reveal their love?

"I...care for you too. I do fear judgement. Legolas, you're a prince! You're supposed to marry a princess, not me!"

"I don't care. I don't love some princess, I love you. I want to be with you."

She smiled at him, her eyes glazing. He faltered, but she waved away his concerns. "No, I'm fine. I'm not crying, I just... I'm just happy. I'm...happy with you."

They embraced under the moonlight, hoping for a future brighter than the stars.
